Omschrijving
Naar ontwerp van J.D. Zocher jr. in 1830 in Engelse landschapsstijl uitgevoerde met in 1870 in soberder trant uitgebreide PARK-AANLEG van de begraafplaats 'Soestbergen', met bijbehorende vak-indeling, beplanting en padenstelsels. Het oudste deel is het meest westelijk gelegen en omvat de vakken 5,7,9,10 en 11 met hun slingerende paden en gebogen perkvormen in verschillende varianten; de vakken 1,3,4,6 en 8 hebben naderhand een strakkere invulling gekregen, met overwegend rechte paden. Conform de toenmalige opvattingen is in de structuur de sociale hiërarchie gevolgd, waarbij adel en gegoede burgerij in het middelpunt zijn geplaatst, en is in de beplanting overwegend donker en statig geboomte geplant, afgewisseld door groene heesters en hagen. Bij deze aanleg zijn door middel van gevarieerde groeperingen van boom- en heestergroepen, kleine hoogteverschillen en het slingerende padenbeloop telkens verrassingseffecten gecreeërd, naast bewust gekozen zicht-assen op markant gesitueerde grafmonumenten.
De later heringerichte vakken alsmede de zuidelijke en oostelijke uitbreidingen, waarbij noordelijk van vak 12 de Oud rooms-katholieke begraafplaats is aangelegd en in de zuidwesthoek van vak 3 Engelse oorlogsgraven in 1944 zijn opgericht, worden gekenmerkt door een hoofdzakelijk rechtlijnig padenstelsel met langerekte rechthoekige grafperken.

According to the design of J.D. Zocher jr., a park layout of the cemetery 'Soestbergen' executed in 1830 in English landscape style and extended in 1870 in a more austere manner, with associated plot division, planting and path systems. The oldest part is located furthest to the west and comprises plots 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11 with their winding paths and curved bed forms in various variants; plots 1, 3, 4, 6 and 8 subsequently received a stricter layout, with predominantly straight paths. In accordance with the attitudes of the time, the structure followed the social hierarchy, with nobility and wealthy burghers placed at the centre, and predominantly dark and stately trees were planted in the planting scheme, alternated by green shrubs and hedges. In this layout, through varied groupings of trees and shrub groups, small height differences and the winding path course, surprise effects were repeatedly created, alongside deliberately chosen sight lines to prominently situated grave monuments.
The later reorganised plots as well as the southern and eastern extensions, whereby the Old Roman Catholic cemetery was laid out north of plot 12 and English war graves were erected in the southwest corner of plot 3 in 1944, are characterised by a mainly rectilinear path system with elongated rectangular grave beds.
