Omschrijving
Inleiding

Description
Introduction
The construction of the western CLOISTER WING probably started in August 1863, some years after the foundation of the cloister, and was completed in 1867.
Description
The building has a rectangular plan, two storeys and is covered by a gabled roof with slate in Maas roofing, with a shield on the northern side. The brick facades are executed more soberly than in the buildings (1) and (2) facing the street. The opening windows with fanlight have the same asymmetrical glazing bars as (1). On the ground floor the windows have been altered. The long facades of the western wing have seven window axes. Against the eastern facade stands a partly brick, partly cast-iron water pump.
The building mainly contained cloister cells.
On the northern side it adjoins the former sacristy of the chapel. On the upper floor lies a former prayer room, from which one had a view into the chapel via a window.
In 1916 a recreation room was built against the sacristy.
From the sacristy located at the apse of the chapel one has access to the garden shed located against the northern garden wall.
Against the southern facade stands an attached two-storey privy building under a flat roof. The facade, in which several small lights are installed and which is decorated with a herringbone arch frieze, was raised in the twentieth century.
Valuation
The cloister building is of general interest. It has cultural-historical value as an example of a spiritual development, namely the flourishing of orders and congregations in the nineteenth century and is also of importance as an example of the typological development of the contemplative cloister. It is architecturally-historically of importance because of the style, the particular use of materials and the sober ornamentation. It has ensemble values because of the coherence of cloister, chapel, garden and utility buildings. It is also of importance in connection with the intactness of the surroundings, where also the already previously protected Capuchin cloister is located.
