Inleiding
WOONHUIS "De Kempen" uit 1937 in Traditionalistische stijl met elementen van baksteen-expressionisme.
Het huis is gebouwd voor de schrijver Antoon Coolen naar ontwerp van architect H.W. Valk ('s-Hertogenbosch).
De voor- of noordgevel staat aan de Blokvenlaan.
Omschrijving
Het gebouw op L-vormige plattegrond, heeft een schilderachtige opzet, met gedeeltelijk een en twee bouwlagen onder zadeldak met schild- en wolfeinde, met een versprongen dakvoet.
Het dak heeft een overstek met houten windveren en is gedekt met oudhollandse dakpannen.
Het huis is opgetrokken uit handgevormde kloostermopen in schoon metselwerk in wild verband. Onder de ontlastingsbogen van de muuropeningen siermetselwerk. Schuifvensters met kleine roedeverdeling. Voordeur onder rondboog. Garagedeur in getoogde muuropening.
