Inleiding:
Op het kerkhof bij de St. Luciakerk bevindt zich een geheel uit natuursteen opgetrokken CALVARIEBERG die in 1919 werd gebouwd door de metselaar H. Knoops. Deze bevat neogotische beelden van Maria, Johannes naast de Gekruisigde Christus.
Omschrijving:
De Calvarieberg is geheel uit natuursteen vervaardigd. De min of meer piramidale onderbouw is uit breuksteen opgebouwd en gesigneerd door Knoops. De eerste steen is gelegd door pastoor De Winter in 1919. De onderbouw wordt bekroond door drie voetstukken die het natuurstenen kruisbeeld en Maria en Johannes dragen. Aan de voorzijde heeft de onderbouw een aedicula met rondboognis, waarin een beeld van de Pietà.
Waardering:
Het monument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur, het is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van de calvarieberg.
