Inleiding
PATRONAAT, gebouwd rond 1920, met een toneelzaal. De deuren zijn vernieuwd rond 1960. De ruimte is heden in gebruik als horecagelegenheid. Het vertoont elementen van Overgangsstijl.
Omschrijving
Het eenlaagse gebouw heeft een L-vomige plattegrond en is opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen. Het platte dak heeft schilden aan de voorzijde met tuile-du-nord dakpannen. De gevel wordt geleed door gele strengpers banden ter hoogte van de onder- en wisseldorpels van de vensters. De goot rust op houten klosjes aan de voorzijde, en op baksteen klosjes aan de zijgevels. De voorgevel bestaat uit een deels afgeschuinde hoek links, vier openslaande houten kruisvensters, een risalerende entree met topgevel en vijf samengestelde rondboogvensters. De vensterdorpels zijn van hardsteen. De deur met bovenlicht op de hoek is vernieuwd. Hierboven trapsgewijs uitkragende hardstenen blokken met afronding als pendentief.
Rechts hiervan een gietijzeren kelderrooster. De twee rechter kruisvensters zijn vereenvoudigd. In de risaliet een paneeldeur in ondiep rondboogportiek. De boog is gevuld met een tegeltableau, waarin een wapenschild tussen klimmende griffioen en hond en onderschrift: "In pharetra et sagitta". In de topgevel een rondboognis met beeldje van de heilige koning Lodewijk van Frankrijk. Rechts hiervan vier rondboogvensters, waarachter zich de grote zaal bevindt. Een vijfde rondboogvenster is hoog aangezet in verband met de hoogte van het podium binnen en tevens visueel gescheiden van de andere vensters door lisenen. In de rechtergevel een deur met trap naar het podium. In de zijgevel links twee kruisvensters. Vastgebouwd aan dit deel een aanbouw uit de bouwtijd onder plat dak. De rest van de achtergevel heeft een vensterindeling als aan de voorzijde.
Waardering
Het patronaat is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van het katholicisme en de vorming van parochiecentra op het platteland. The single-storey building has an L-shaped floor plan and is constructed of machine-made brick. The flat roof has hipped sections at the front with tuile-du-nord roof tiles. The facade is articulated by yellow brick bands at the level of the lower and intermediate cornices of the windows. The gutter rests on wooden blocks at the front, and on brick blocks at the side facades. The front facade consists of a partly bevelled corner on the left, four open wooden cross windows, a projecting entrance with a spout gable and five composite round-arched windows. The window cornices are of hardstone. The corner door with fanlight has been renewed. Above this, stepped projecting hardstone blocks with rounding as a pendentive.
To the right of this an iron-cast basement grille. The two right cross windows are simplified. In the risalit a panel door in a shallow round-arched portico. The arch is filled with a tile tableau, in which an armorial shield between climbing griffins and a dog and inscription: "In pharetra et sagitta". In the spout gable a round-arched niche with a statue of the holy king Louis of France. To the right of this four round-arched windows, behind which the large hall is situated. A fifth round-arched window is set high in relation to the height of the stage within and also visually separated from the other windows by pilasters. In the right side facade a door with stairs to the stage. In the left side facade two cross windows. Attached to this part an extension from the time of construction under a flat roof. The rest of the rear facade has a window arrangement as at the front.
