Inleiding
Aan de westzijde van de twee oost-west gericht havendammen van de haven van Stavoren staan twee ROLPALEN ofwel draaipalen. Deze dateren vermoedelijk van omstreeks 1880-1884, de jaren waarin ook de twee havenlichten, de lichtopstand en het peilschaalhuis zijn vervaardigd (zie aparte omschrijvingen).
De rolpalen dienden de schepen bij het invaren van de haven zo ver mogelijk door de bocht te "jagen".
Omschrijving
De houten rolpalen zijn ongeveer anderhalf meter hoog. Twee metalen ringen verstevigen de onder en bovenzijde.
Waardering
De twee rolpalen, behorende bij de 'oude' haven van Stavoren, zijn van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang:
- als onderdeel van een groter geheel dat van nationaal belang is;
- vanwege de situering, verbonden met de functie;
- vanwege de typologische en functionele zeldzaamheid.

Description
Introduction
On the west side of the two east-west oriented harbour dams of the harbour of Stavoren stand two BOLLARDS or turning posts. These presumably date from around 1880-1884, the years in which also the two harbour lights, the light tower and the water-gauge house were manufactured (see separate descriptions).
The bollards served to guide ships as far as possible through the bend when entering the harbour.
Description
The wooden bollards are approximately one and a half metres high. Two metal rings reinforce the bottom and top sides.
Valuation
The two bollards, belonging to the 'old' harbour of Stavoren, are of general cultural-historical importance:
- as part of a larger whole that is of national importance;
- because of the location, connected with the function;
- because of the typological and functional rarity.
