Inleiding
De LICHTOPSTAND ('hoge licht') aan de haven van Stavoren bevindt zich ten zuidwesten van de Koijweg, aan het oostelijke uiteinde van de noordelijke dam. De lichtopstand is in 1884 door de Engelse firma Brothers and Co. House Engineer Constructors uit Birmingham vervaardigd, evenals als de havenlichten aan de westelijke uiteinden van de havendammen. De 'hoogte boven middenstand' van het water is 15.3 m., het karakter Iso W4s. Omschrijving

In het lichthuis staat een ijzeren zuil met rond geprofileerd basement en een rond plateau, waarop de optiek is geplaatst. De optiek (tegenwoordig met elektrische lamp), is nog origineel.

The LIGHT TOWER ('high light') at the harbour of Stavoren is located south-west of the Koijweg, at the eastern end of the northern dam. The light tower was manufactured in 1884 by the English firm Brothers and Co. House Engineer Constructors from Birmingham, as well as the harbour lights at the western ends of the harbour dams. The 'height above mean water level' is 15.3 m., the character Iso W4s.
Description
The cast-iron light tower is constructed from open cast-iron panels, which are screwed to each other by means of cast-on flanges. Each of the four storeys consists of six open panels. The panels themselves consist of cast-iron crossed bars which are decorated by decorative elements, such as curls and rosettes. In the space on the inside of the open construction is the cast-iron spiral staircase. This leads to an open cast-iron upstand with balustrade. The balustrade consists of a chain of rectangles with cross-connections. On the conical, cast-iron light-house eight panes are placed with an octagonal profiled moulding; the whole is covered by a cupola with spherical crown. In the light-house stands an iron column with round profiled basement and a round platform, on which the optics are placed. The optics (nowadays with electric lamp), are still original.
