Inleiding
Ten noorden van het hoofdgebouw gelegen FOURAGEGEBOUW, gebouwd in 1883-1884, als onderdeel van de cavaleriekazerne in een sobere eclectische bouwtrant met utiliitair karakter naar ontwerp van I. J.H. Gijsberti Hodenpijl. Het uit drie bouwlagen betaande voorste deel (O) van het gebouw was bestemd voor de opslag van haver, het uit twee bouwlagen bestaande middengedeelte voor de opslag van hooi en het ongedeelde achterste gedeelte voor de opslag van stro.
Omschrijving
Het fouragegebouw staat op rechthoekig grondplan en bestaat uit drie bouwlagen met kapverdieping onder zadeldak met zwarte kruispan. Het muurwerk is opgetrokken in rode baksteen. Plint, onderdorpels en banddecoraties zijn in hardsteen uitgevoerd. De topgevel aan de voorzijde (O) heeft op de hoeken zware muurdammen met daartussen twee lisenen die de gevel verdelen in drie spaarvelden. De topgevel wordt afgesloten door een uitgemetselde en getrapte lijst die aan de bovenzijde is bekleed met natuursteen. De geveltop heeft een uitgemetselde cilindervormige beëindiging waarop een windwijzer met daarop het jaartal 1884. De topgevel aan de achterzijde (W) heeft geen geleding. De beide zijgevels worden geleed door lisenen die het muurwerk in negen getoogde spaarvelden van ongelijke grootte verdelen. De vensters zijn alle getoogd en voorzien van houten ramen met meerruits roedenverdeling.
Waardering
Het voormalige fouragegebouw uit 1884 behorend bij de Ripperdakazerne is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische en architectuurhistorische betekenis als grotendeels gaaf bewaard voorbeeld van laat-19e eeuwse utilitaire architectuur ten dienste van de cavalerie en vanwege de ensemblewaarde als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het voormalige kazernecomplex.

FORAGE BUILDING situated north of the main building, built in 1883-1884, as part of the cavalry barracks in a sober eclectic architectural style with utilitarian character to the design of I. J.H. Gijsberti Hodenpijl. The front part (E) consisting of three storeys was intended for the storage of oats, the middle section consisting of two storeys for the storage of hay and the undivided rear section for the storage of straw.
Description
The forage building stands on a rectangular ground plan and consists of three storeys with roof storey under saddle roof with black Spanish tiles. The masonry is executed in red brick. Plinth, sills and band decorations are executed in hard stone. The gable on the front (E) has on the corners heavy wall buttresses with between them two pilasters which divide the gable into three spandrels. The gable is closed by a brick-bonded and stepped band which on the top side is clad with natural stone. The gable top has a brick-bonded cylindrical termination on which is a weathervane with the date 1884. The gable on the rear (W) has no articulation. Both side walls are articulated by pilasters which divide the masonry into nine arched spandrels of unequal size. The windows are all arched and furnished with wooden lights with multi-pane glazing bars.
Valuation
The former forage building from 1884 belonging to the Ripperdakazerne is of general importance by virtue of its cultural-historical and architectural-historical significance as a largely well-preserved example of late 19th-century utilitarian architecture serving the cavalry and by virtue of its ensemble value as a historic-functional component of the former barracks complex.
