Inleiding
Voormalig FABRIEKSGEBOUW, in 1911 gebouwd in opdracht van P.F.
van Vlissingen. Het gebouw, dat markant aan de Zuid-Willemsvaart is gesitueerd, is heden in gebruik als opslagruimte.
Omschrijving
Het vierlaagse pand heeft een vrijwel rechthoekige plattegrond met iets afgeschuinde zijden. Het gebouw bestaat uit een in het zicht gelaten betonskelet met wit geschilderde baksteen vulmuren. Het skelet deelt de gevel in in twaalf traveeën met elk twee vensters. De hoektraveeën hebben een plat dak, de andere zijn voorzien van sheddaken. Aan de kanaalzijde zijn de ramen regelmatig gespatiëerd. Op de begane grond bevinden zich in de eerste vier assen links en rechts onder meer kruisvenstervarianten met kleine roeden in de bovenlichten en dubbele deuren onder een luifel. Daar tussen bevinden zich grote stalen, vierkante zesendertigruits tuimelvensters. Dezelfde vensters vindt men op de eerste en tweede etage. De bovenste etage is blind. In de vierde travee van links en de vierde van rechts is een rechthoek met daarop geschilderd: "Anno" en "1911". Deze verdieping wordt verlicht door de glaszijde in de shedddaken. In de eindgevels hiervan zijn ronde vierruits ramen geplaatst. De zijgevels tellen vier assen en hebben een raamindeling zoals boven beschreven. De achtergevel bezit grote delen die blind zijn gelaten en heeft diverse vensters die langer zijn uitgevoerd dan de overige ramen. In alle gevels zijn deuren aangebracht.
De inwendige constructie wordt gevormd door vierkante betonnen pijlers, die de plafonds dragen die in beton als moer- en kinderbalken zijn uitgevoerd. De zaagtanddaken rusten op betonnen balken, die tesamen een niet gelijkbenige driehoek vormen.
