Inleiding
De MUZIEKTENT gelegen in het Julianapark is gebouwd in 1922 naar een ontwerp van de toenmalige gemeente-architect J.P. Postma en ligt op een verhoogd terras centraal in het park. De tent die in de as van de hoofdingang ligt, grenst aan de noordelijke vijver en staat op een knooppunt van paden. Er is een rond 'plein' gecreëerd, omgeven door Italiaanse populieren en begrensd door een witte balustrade aan de vijverzijde. Via een houten brug die aan het 'plein' grenst wordt een verbinding gevormd met de Prof. dr. T. Brandsmalaan.
De muziektent is tegenwoordig in gebruik als volière en daartoe aangepast.
Omschrijving
De muziektent heeft een octagonale plattegrond en is gebouwd op een bakstenen basement met een rollaag. Een bakstenen trap van drie treden verschaft toegang tot het plateau. De trap wordt geflankeerd door twee concave muurdammen. Deze werden voorheen bekroond door betonnen bollen.
Op het basement staat de houten skeletconstructie; het geknikte achthoekige dak is gedekt met terracotta leien. De hoekkepers zijn met zink afgewerkt en het dak wordt bekroond door een pijnappel. De koepel is aan de binnenzijde met planken afgetimmerd. De balustrade is verwijderd. De oorspronkelijke vormgeving verwijst naar de Chaletstijl.
Waardering
De muziektent in het Julianapark te Bolsward uit 1922 is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch belang:

The MUSIC TENT located in the Julianapark was built in 1922 to a design by the then municipal architect J.P. Postma and is situated on a raised terrace centrally within the park. The tent, which lies on the axis of the main entrance, borders the northern pond and stands at a junction of paths. A round 'square' has been created, surrounded by Italian poplars and bounded by a white balustrade on the pond side. Via a wooden bridge which borders the 'square', a connection is formed with the Prof. dr. T. Brandsmalaan.

Description
The music tent has an octagonal floor plan and is built on a brick basement with a roll course. A brick staircase of three steps provides access to the plateau. The staircase is flanked by two concave wall buttresses. These were formerly crowned by concrete spheres.
On the basement stands the timber skeleton construction; the angled octagonal roof is covered with terracotta slates. The corner rafters are finished with zinc and the roof is crowned by a pineapple finial. The cupola is lined on the inside with planks. The balustrade has been removed. The original design refers to the Chalet style.
