Inleiding
Het JulianaPARK ligt aan de Snekerstraat te Bolsward en wordt ingesloten door de Secretaris Haitsmalaan, de Prof. dr Titus Brandsmalaan en de Koningin Wilhelminalaan. De hoofdingang, in de vorm van een monumentale toegangspartij, ligt aan de Snekerstraat.
Het park is aangelegd in 1913 en is een geschenk van het Old Burger Weeshuis en het Sint Anthonygasthuis aan de gemeente Bolsward ter gelegenheid van de 100-jarige herdenking van de bevrijding van de Franse overheersing. De opdracht voor de aanleg werd gegeven aan de firma Wybren Krijns & Co uit Joure, die het park in een Gemengde Tuinstijl realiseerde naar ontwerp van haar tuinarchitect M. Meijer. De aanleg is een combinatie van formele en landschappelijke elementen, waarbij een formele en een landschappelijke vijver de landschappelijke structuur grotendeels bepalen.
Omschrijving
Vanaf de monumentale ingangspartij (FR-BOL-86B) leidt een door knot-iepen geflankeerde LAAN via een "rotonde" met "Beatrix"-boom en haagbeuken naar een formele aanleg met langwerpige waterpartij, gazons en bloemenborders.
Aan de overzijde van het water ligt, in de centrale as en bedoeld als blikvanger, een witte houten BALUSTRADE, bestaande uit een gebogen middendeel en twee rechtgesloten zijvleugels met geprofileerde bekroning. Voor de balustrade staan twee vroeg-20ste-eeuwse kunststenen PIEDESTALS met ramkoppen, guirlandes en een kapiteel met eierlijst, bekroond door kunststenen VAZEN. Centraal in het park ligt op een kleine verhoging een muziekkoepel die tegenwoordig dienst doet als volière (FR-BOL-86D). Links van de waterpartij verschaft een y-vormige loofgang van haagbeuk toegang tot een knooppunt van paden met "rotende". Hierachter ligt een landschappelijke aanleg met gazons, borders, een grillige waterpartij met eilandje en slingerpaden. Aan de westzijde ligt een tweede (witte), houten BALUSTRADE. Zuidelijk van de waterpartij ligt het (thans verwaarloosde en incomplete) ROSARIUM.
Waardering
Het Julianapark uit 1913 met monumentale onderdelen aan de Snekerstraat te Bolsward, is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch, architectuurhistorisch en stedebouwkundig belang:

In the centre of the park, on a small elevation, is a music pavilion which now serves as an aviary (FR-BOL-86D). To the left of the water feature, a y-shaped pergola of hornbeam provides access to a junction of paths with knotted timber details. Behind this lies a landscape layout with lawns, borders, an irregular water feature with islet and winding paths. On the west side is a second (white) wooden BALUSTRADE. South of the water feature lies the (now neglected and incomplete) ROSARY.
