Vrijstaand WOONHUIS op rechthoekige plattegrond is een landhuis in een Franse eclectische stijl uit 1867, bestaande uit een souterrain en twee bouwlagen, met een latere gewijzigde derde bouwlaag in het middenrisaliet (oorspronkelijk een lage zolderverdieping) onder een plat dak. Alle gevels zijn gepleisterd en voorzien van lisenen met casement invulling, een cordonlijst tussen de eerste en tweede bouwlaag en worden boven een geprofileerde lijst afgesloten door een uitkragende daklijst. De aan de bovenzijde getoogde gevelopeningen hebben een geprofileerde omlijsting en zijn voorzien van stolpdeuren of stolpramen met bovenlicht, op de verdieping geflankeerd door persiennes. De vensters in de later toegevoegde derde bouwlaag zijn rechthoekige en hebben geen omlijsting. De voorgevel (noord) aan tuinzijde is een lijstgevel van vier vensterassen breed met een middenrisaliet van twee vensterassen. Vóór de gevel is boven het souterrain een grote veranda geplaatst die breder is dan de gevel van het landhuis en wordt overdekt door een balkon dat qua vorm identiek is aan de veranda. Het balkon wordt gesteund door negen ranke gietijzeren gecanneleerde zuilen. Zowel veranda als balkon zijn voorzien van een vermoedelijk niet origineel houten hekwerk met platte balusters. De achtergevel (zuid) is een lijstgevel van vijf vensterassen breed met een middenrisaliet van drie vensterassen. Het middenrisaliet heeft een kleinere voorsprong dan het middenrisaliet in de voorgevel. In het midden ervan is de hoofdingang geplaatst, bereikbaar via een hardstenen, vijftredige bordestrap. Op de verdieping is vóór het risaliet een balkon gezet, rustend op vier zwaar uitgevoerde gecanneleerde Dorische zuilen. Het balkon dient tevens als afdak voor de eronder gelegen ingangspartij. De zijgevels zijn twee vensterassen breed.
De indeling der vertrekken is voor een groot deel gewijzigd en derhalve voor bescherming van ondergeschikt belang. Dit geldt ook voor de later gewijzigde en verhoogde derde bouwlaag op het middenrisaliet.
Waardering
Als hoofdonderdeel van de buitenplaats De Paltz is het landhuis van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als herkenbaar voorbeeld van een landhuis uit het derde kwart van de 19de eeuw in een Frans eclectische stijl, alsmede vanwege de ontwikkelingsgeschiedenis van de buitenplaats. Detached DWELLING on rectangular floor plan is a country house in French eclectic style from 1867, consisting of a basement and two storeys, with a later modified third storey in the central risalit (originally a low attic storey) under a flat roof. All facades are plastered and provided with lisenes with casement infill, a string course between the first and second storeys and are finished above a moulded line by a projecting cornice. The arched gable openings at the top have moulded surrounds and are provided with French doors or French windows with fanlight, on the storey flanked by shutters. The windows in the later added third storey are rectangular and have no surround. The front facade (north) at garden side is a cornice-topped facade four window bays wide with a central risalit of two window bays. In front of the facade above the basement a large veranda is placed which is wider than the facade of the country house and is covered by a balcony that in form is identical to the veranda. The balcony is supported by nine slender fluted cast-iron columns. Both veranda and balcony are provided with presumably non-original wooden railings with flat balusters. The rear facade (south) is a cornice-topped facade five window bays wide with a central risalit of three window bays. The central risalit has a smaller projection than the central risalit in the front facade. In the middle of it the main entrance is placed, accessible via a limestone five-step steps. On the storey in front of the risalit a balcony is set, resting on four heavily executed fluted Doric columns. The balcony also serves as a hood over the entrance arrangement below. The side facades are two window bays wide.
The layout of the rooms has been largely modified and is therefore of minor importance for protection. This also applies to the later modified and raised third storey on the central risalit.
