Omschrijving

Description

A COACH HOUSE located parallel to the drive (northern side) dating from around 1870 is executed in chalet style. The single-storey building has a rectangular floor plan under a slate roof in Maas covering consisting of a compound saddle roof, made up of the saddle roof of the main volume onto which the saddle roof of the risalit is placed at right angles. The roof edges are finished at the underside with carved wind braces and the corners have roof cresting. On the long gable sides the roof slopes are supported by wooden decoratively carved braces. The wind braces are executed with decorative hanging fretwork, roof ridge cresting, struts and decorative bargeboards. The facades constructed of grey brick have header-bonded arched openings. At the level of the window sill a projecting course is laid which above the windows follows the header arch. The gable corners are accentuated by a laid, flat lisene. The gable tops are provided under the roof edges with a laid, stepped frieze. The windows are provided with shutters, which like the doors are also fixed with cramps.

The symmetrically arranged front facade (south) of three bays has a central risalit with a pointed gable under a slating roof. In the middle a double carriage door fixed with cramps is placed. To the right of the risalit there is under an overhang the access to what is now the dwelling. On the left a window is set in the facade. The right side gable has two windows on the ground floor and one window on the upper storey. The left side gable has a symmetrical arrangement with a door placed in the middle, flanked by a window, which originally gave access to the servant's dwelling. On the upper storey three windows are set.

N.B. For the rear facade four window bays wide, a conservatory under a lean-to roof was placed in 1990, which is of minor importance for protection.

Valuation

The former coach house is of general importance due to its cultural-historical and architectural-historical value as a characteristic example of a coach house in chalet style from the third quarter of the 19th century. It is a spatial and functional component of the country estate and as such is also important for its developmental history and has ensemble value with the other complex components. The coach house is fairly well preserved in principal form, material use and detailing.
