Inleiding
De THEEKOEPEL behoort bij het Psychiatrisch Ziekenhuis Franeker en bevindt zich ten zuidwesten van de landbouwschuur, ten noorden van de Harlingerweg en van de strook grond die parallel aan de weg ligt en ook bij het ziekenhuis hoort. De theekoepel is in een traditionele, klassieke stijl gebouwd met Eclectische details. Het bouwjaar en de ontwerper zijn niet bekend (vermoedelijk rond 1880). De theekoepel is waarschijnlijk door het ziekenhuis aangekocht en hier naar toe verplaatst in het kader van de vernieuwingen binnen de zorg voor geestelijk zieke patiënten die hadden plaatsgevonden. Ondanks het feit dat het in een andere periode dan de overige te beschermen complexonderdelen is gebouwd, wordt de selectie ervan gerechtvaardigd door de zeldzaamheid van dit type bouwwerken, de gaafheid van exterieur en interieur en het feit dat het bij het complex hoorde.
Omschrijving

Aan weerszijden van de ingang bevinden zich -twee aan twee- vier vensters. De overige drie zijden aan de noordkant zijn blind. De vensters en de deur zijn tegenwoordig gedicht omdat het gebouwtje leeg staat. Het waren zesruitsvensters en een dubbele deur met glaspanelen. In het INTERIEUR zijn nog verschillende elementen aanwezig die bij de oorspronkelijke inrichting horen, onder meer een kast, een rondom doorlopende wandbank, een vlak plafond van kraalschroten en doorgetrokken koningsstijl.
Waardering
De theekoepel, behorend bij het Psychiatrisch Ziekenhuis Franeker te Franeker is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch belang:

Introduction
The TEA PAVILION belongs to the Psychiatric Hospital Franeker and is located to the southwest of the agricultural barn, to the north of the Harlingerweg and of the strip of land running parallel to the road which also belongs to the hospital. The tea pavilion is built in a traditional, classical style with Eclectic details. The year of construction and the designer are not known (presumed around 1880). The tea pavilion was probably purchased by the hospital and relocated here as part of the improvements in care for mentally ill patients that had taken place. Description
The plan is octagonal. The thatched roof is eight-sided. The roof with broad eaves rests on long wooden corbels and on wooden keystones which are carved according to a wave motif. The roof is crowned by a finial and a vase with four scroll-shaped handles. The tea pavilion has a high brick basement and is otherwise constructed of wood. On each corner there is a pilaster with a narrowing at basement level. The entrance, with a brick step and a stone staircase of three steps, is located on the south side. On either side of the entrance there are four windows in pairs of two. The remaining three sides on the north are blank. The windows and door are currently closed off because the building is empty. These were six-paned windows and a double door with glass panels. In the INTERIOR various elements are still present which belong to the original furnishings, including a cupboard, a continuous wall bench running all around, a flat ceiling of beaded boards and continued king-post style.
