Inleiding
DIENSTWONING (type V) voor lager personeel in de stijlvormen van het Functionalisme uit 1938-39, gebouwd door de Tsjech Thomas Bata bij zijn schoenfabriek in Batadorp. Het ontwerp is vermoedelijk van architect Antonín Vítek, die verbonden was aan de moederfabriek te Zlín (Tsjechoslowakije). Van dit bouwtype IV zijn zeventien blokken gebouwd, het zijn:

Omschrijving
Het woonhuis met twee bouwlagen heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond met aan de achterkant een eenlaagse uitbouw. Boven de voordeur een houten luifel op houten korbelen. Zowel het woonhuis als de berging hebben platte daken met een houten overstek. Het opgaande werk bestaat uit machinale baksteen gemetseld in halfsteens verband. De muuropeningen zijn voorzien van een rollaag. Op de verdieping boven de voordeur een rond venster. De indeling van de vensters is gewijzigd. De indeling van de huizen, die het spiegelbeeld zijn van elkaar is als volgt: op de begane grond een gang met trap en w.c., woonkamer met tuindeuren, keuken met kelderkast onder de trap, bergplaats met met ingebouwde provisiekast en douche. Op de verdieping drie slaapkamers. De grootste aan de straat met ingebouwde kast en wastafelkast naast het ronde venster. De kleinste met een deur naar balkon boven de berging.
De woonkamervloer, verdiepingsvloer en het platte dak hebben een houten balklaag. De rest van de vloeren is van beton voorzien van een deklaag van cement-estrik of terrazzowerk.
Waardering:
De dubbele dienstwoning type V is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als voorbeeld van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de industrialisatie en internationalisering van Noord-Brabant in het Interbellum. Het object is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van de arbeiderswoning. Het heeft architectuurhistorisch belang als karakteristiek en zeldzaam voorbeeld van het Functionalisme en als stijlvoorbeeld van de Praagse Academie voor Creatieve Kunst. Description
The dwelling house with two storeys has a rectangular floor plan with a single-storey extension at the rear. Above the front door a wooden canopy on wooden corbels. Both the dwelling house and the storage building have flat roofs with a wooden eaves projection. The external walls consist of machine-made brick laid in half-brick bond. The wall openings are provided with a drip moulding. On the first floor above the front door a round window. The arrangement of windows has been altered. The layout of the houses, which are mirror images of each other, is as follows: on the ground floor a corridor with stairs and toilet, living room with garden doors, kitchen with cellar cupboard under the stairs, storage area with built-in pantry and shower. On the first floor three bedrooms. The largest facing the street with built-in cupboard and wash basin cupboard beside the round window. The smallest with a door to a balcony above the storage building.
The living room floor, first floor and flat roof have a wooden beam layer. The remaining floors are concrete with a finish layer of cement screed or terrazzo work.
Evaluation:
The double servants' quarters type V is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical value as an example of a socio-economic development, namely the industrialisation and internationalisation of North Brabant in the Interwar period. The object is also important for the typological development of the workers' dwelling. It has architectural-historical importance as a characteristic and rare example of Functionalism and as a style example of the Prague Academy of Creative Art. It has ensemble value as a functional component of the Company town Batadorp, which should be regarded for the Netherlands as a very special urban planning development.
