Inleiding:
DUBBELE DIENSTWONING (type III) voor lager personeel in de stijlvormen van het Functionalisme uit 1935, gebouwd door de Tsjech Thomas Bata bij zijn schoenfabriek in Batadorp.
Het ontwerp is vermoedelijk van architect Antonín Vítek, die verbonden was aan de moederfabriek te Zlín (Tsjechoslowakije).
Van dit bouwtype III zijn twaalf blokken gebouwd, het zijn: Amsterdamsestraat 2-4 ", 6-8", 10-12", 14-16", 18-20", 1-3", 5-7", 9-11", 13-15", 17-19",

Het dubbele woonhuis heeft twee bouwlagen en is kubusvormig van opzet. Het heeft een betonnen dakoverstek en fries. Een kleine betonnen luifel en aangebouwde L-vormige gemetselde zitbank bij de voordeur doorbreken de strakke architectuur van de huizen.
Het opgaande werk bestaat uit machinale baksteen gemetseld in halfsteensverband. De muuropeningen zijn voorzien van een rollaag. Onder de luifel naast de voordeur een halfsteens uitgebouwde penant. De indeling van devensters is gewijzigd.
De indeling van de huizen, die het spiegelbeeld zijn van elkaar is alsvolgt: op de begane grond een gang met trap, woonkamer, keuken met provisiekast, badkamer, bergplaats. Op de verdieping drie slaapkamers, waarvan twee met ingebouwde kasten.
De woonkamervloer, verdiepingsvloer en het platte dak hebben een houten balklaag. De rest van de vloeren is van beton voorzien van een deklaag van cement-estrik of terrazzowerk.
Waardering:
De dubbele dienstwoning type III is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de industrialisatie en internationalisering van Noord-Brabant in het Interbellum. Het object is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van de arbeiderswoning. Het heeft architectuurhistorisch belang als karakteristiek en zeldzaam voorbeeld van het Functionalisme en als stijlvoorbeeld van de Praagse Academie voor Creatieve Kunst. Description
The double dwelling house has two storeys and is cubic in design. It has a concrete roof overhang and frieze. A small concrete canopy and built-on L-shaped masonry bench seat at the front door break the austere architecture of the houses.

The double service dwelling type III is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical value as an example of a socio-economic development, namely the industrialisation and internationalisation of North Brabant in the Interwar period. The object is also of importance for the typological development of the workers' dwelling. It has architectural-historical significance as a characteristic and rare example of Functionalism and as a stylistic example of the Prague Academy for Creative Art. It has ensemble values as a functional component of the Company Town Batadorp, which for the Netherlands should be regarded as a very exceptional urban development.
