Inleiding
DUBBELE DIENSTWONING met GARAGE (type II) voor hoger personeel in de stijlvormen van het Functionalisme uit 1933, gebouwd door de Tsjech Thomas Bata bij zijn schoenfabriek in Batadorp.
Het ontwerp is vermoedelijk van architect Antonín Vítek, die verbonden was aan de moederfabriek te Zlín (Tsjechoslowakije). Van dit bouwtype II zijn vier blokken gebouwd, het zijn:

Omschrijving
Het dubbele woonhuis met twee bouwlagen heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond met aan de zijkant van het huis een terugliggende eenlaagse garage, die aan de achterkant van het huis overgaat in een berging. Tussen beide bergingen van de huizen een open waranda.
Zowel het woonhuis als de garage zijn voorzien van een plat dak met houten overstek. Oorspronkelijk had het huis een betonnen overstek met fries. In de voorgevel van het huis heeft de woonkamer een erker met een dakje,dat bij de voordeur een portiek vormt. Bij voordeur een bordes met tweebloktreden. De huizen zijn opgetrokken uit machinale baksteen gemetseld in klezoorverband. De muuropeningen zijn voorzien van een rollaag. Oorspronkelijk hadden de vensters stalen roedenramen. De indeling van de huizen, die het spiegelbeeld zijn van elkaar, is alsvolgt: op de begane grond woon- en eetkamer; keuken; gang met trap naarverdieping; w.c.; garage en berging met ingebouwde provisiekast. De verdieping heeft een badkamer en drie slaapkamers waarvan één met twee ingebouwde kasten.
De woonkamervloer, verdiepingsvloer en het platte dak van de woningen hebben een houten balklaag. Het dak van garage en berging is van kolenasbeton. De rest van de vloeren is van beton voorzien van een deklaag van cement-estrik of terrazzowerk.
Waardering
De dubbele dienstwoning type II met garage is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de industrialisatie en internationalisering van Noord-Brabant in het Interbellum. Het object is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van de arbeiderswoning. Het heeft architectuurhistorisch belang als karakteristiek en zeldzaam voorbeeld van het Functionalisme en als stijlvoorbeeld van de Praagse Academie voor Creatieve Kunst. Ze heeft ensemblewaarden als functioneel onderdeel van de Companytown Batadorp, die voor Nederland als een zeer bijzondere stedenbouwkundige ontwikkeling aangemerkt dient te worden.

Description
The double dwelling house with two storeys has a rectangular plan with a recessed single-storey garage on the side of the house, which transitions at the rear of the house into a storage room. Between the storage rooms of the houses an open veranda.
Both the dwelling house and the garage are provided with a flat roof with wooden overhang. Originally the house had a concrete overhang with frieze. In the front facade of the house the living room has a bay window with a small roof, which forms a porch at the front door. At the front door a stoop with two-step treads. The houses are built of machine-made bricks laid in English bond. The wall openings are provided with a reveal. Originally the windows had steel bar frames. The layout of the houses, which are mirror images of each other, is as follows: on the ground floor living and dining room; kitchen; hall with staircase to the upper floor; W.C.; garage and storage with built-in larder. The upper floor has a bathroom and three bedrooms, one of which has two built-in cupboards.
The living room floor, upper floor and the flat roof of the dwellings have a wooden beam structure. The roof of garage and storage is of coal-ash concrete. The remaining floors are of concrete provided with a layer of cement screed or terrazzo work.
Valuation
The double service dwelling type II with garage is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical value as an example of a socio-economic development, namely the industrialisation and internationalisation of North Brabant in the Interwar period. The object is also of importance for the typological development of the workers' dwelling. It has architectural-historical significance as a characteristic and rare example of Functionalism and as a stylistic example of the Prague Academy for Creative Art. It has ensemble values as a functional component of the Company Town Batadorp, which for the Netherlands should be regarded as a very exceptional urban development.
