Omschrijving complexonderdeel 2
De evenwijdig aan de Heemskerklaan in het Cantonspark gelegen WINTERTUIN is in 1914-1915 gebouwd voor A. Janssen naar ontwerp van bouwkundige G. Koelewijn uit Baarn. Het object is opgetrokken op een nagenoeg rechthoekige plattegrond en telt één bouwlaag. Het object bestaat boven een stenen basement uit hout en glas, met uitzondering van de achtergevel, die geheel van baksteen is. De beglazing van de daken is vervangen door kunststof. De glaspuien zijn deels voorzien van een roedenindeling, soms nog met glas-in-lood, en deels van vensters met een getoogde bovenzijde.
Het middelste bouwdeel is hoger opgetrokken en voor het grootste deel voorzien van glas. Het bouwdeel wordt gedekt door een tegen een rechte achterzijde geplaatst schilddak met de nok haaks op de Heemskerklaan en het park gericht. De dakschilden zijn gebogen, met uitzondering van de achterzijde. Tegen dit geveldeel is een brede schoorsteen gezet, die boven het dakhuis uitsteekt, dat op de nok is gezet. Ter weerszijden van het middendeel zijn lagere bouwdelen geplaatst onder zadeldaken met de nok evenwijdig aan de Heemskerklaan. Tegen de voorzijde van het middendeel is een driezijdige stenen erker gezet met getoogde vensters en deuren. Tegen de zijgevels van de lagere bouwvolumes zijn erkers van hout en glas geplaatst met stolpende deuren.
Het interieur is één grote ruimte. In het midden bevindt zich een palm. De zijvleugels zijn verdiept en van een omloop voorzien. De kapspanten zijn van hout met ijzeren polonceauspanten.
De wintertuin deed dienst als plantenkas en is verbouwd tot galerie. De kolenkelder en het ketelhuis, die aan de achterzijde waren gelegen, zijn afgebroken. Essentieel is de ligging van de kas op het zuiden, waarbij de planten ook `s winters voldoende licht en zonnewarmte konden opvangen.

The WINTER GARDEN, located parallel to the Heemskerklaan in Cantonspark, was built in 1914-1915 for A. Janssen according to designs by civil engineer G. Koelewijn from Baarn. The object is constructed on a nearly rectangular ground plan and comprises one storey. The object consists above a stone basement of wood and glass, with the exception of the rear façade, which is entirely of brickwork. The glazing of the roof has been replaced by plastic. The glass façades are partly provided with a glazing bar pattern, sometimes still with leaded glass, and partly with windows with an arched upper section.
The middle building section is built higher and for the most part provided with glass. The building section is covered by a hipped roof placed against a straight rear side with the ridge perpendicular to the Heemskerklaan and the park. The roof panels are curved, with the exception of the rear side. Against this façade section a broad chimney is set, which protrudes above the roof house, which is set on the ridge. On either side of the middle section lower building sections are placed under gabled roofs with the ridge parallel to the Heemskerklaan. Against the front of the middle section a three-sided stone bay is placed with arched windows and doors. Against the side façades of the lower building volumes are bays of wood and glass placed with opening doors.
The interior is one large space. In the middle is a palm. The side wings are lowered and provided with a passage. The roof truss structures are of wood with iron bowstring trusses.
