HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG. De buitenplaats bestaat oorspronkelijk uit een huisplaats en een overtuin, die van elkaar gescheiden zijn door de Amersfoortseweg. De betekenis van de historische aanleg rust voornamelijk op de visuele relatie met de overtuin, thans Blookerspark, die middels een zichtas tot stand is gebracht. In 1897 is de aanleg van Zandbergen door tuinarchitect Copijn gereorganiseerd; deze heeft tevens in het begin van de twintigste eeuw het Blookerspark, met behoud van de zichtas, opnieuw ingericht. Het huis Zandbergen wordt omringd wordt door zwaar geboomte, zoals ook op negentiende-eeuwse afbeeldingen te zien is. Voor het huis ligt een open aanleg van een gazon geflankeerd door boomgroepen, die als coulissen van de zichtas functioneren. Aan de rechter zijde van het huis loopt een eenzijdig beplante eikenlaan, die oorspronkelijk leidde naar het koetshuis. Achter deze laan is sinds de achttiende eeuw een rechthoekige moestuin gesitueerd, alwaar de koude- en warme bakken en de fundamenten van de kassen nog aanwezig zijn. Aan weerszijden van het huis liggen de parkbossen met slingerlanen en reliëf, deze worden genoemd in de verkoopadvertentie uit 1791 met de bewoordingen 'een groot uitgestrekt wandelbosch, doorsneden met laanen en slingers goeggroeijend eik en berken hakhout; en eindelyk een groot bosch beplant mnet ruim 30 jarige sparren'. Er zijn enkele restanten van het laat achttiende-eeuwse lanenstelsel te herkennen, zoals de gebogen lindenlaan en oude monumentale bomen in het parkbos. De middenas achter het huis is pas aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw aangelegd, oorspronkelijk slingerde de laan in ruime curven naar het heidelandschap (zie tekening Numan ca.1800). Van deze slingerlaan resteert de reeds genoemde lindenlaan. De rechtgetrokken laan staat op de Topografische Militaire Kaart van 1927 voor het eerst aangegeven. In het oostelijke beuken- en sparrenbos is de ijskelder gelegen in een zeer hoog opgeworpen heuvel, die een belangrijk element vormt binnen deze aanleg. Deze heuvel maakt, als uitzichtsheuvel, deel uit van de wandeling en is verfraaid met 'imitatie-rotsblokken' van gecementeerde baksteen waardoor het een folly-achtig karakter krijgt. Bij de ijskelder ligt een (thans droogstaande) vijver in landschapsstijl. Het westelijke bos heeft een vrij transparant karakter. Achter dit bos ligt een weide met een rondwandeling, die ondanks enkele verstoringen toch karakteristiek te noemen is.
Waardering
HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorende tot de buitenplaats Zandbergen is van algemeen belang:

HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT. The country estate originally consists of a house site and an outer garden, separated from each other by the Amersfoortseweg. The significance of the historic layout rests primarily on the visual relationship with the outer garden, now Blookerspark, which was created by means of a sight line axis. In 1897 the layout of Zandbergen was reorganised by landscape architect Copijn; he also redesigned Blookerspark in the early twentieth century, preserving the sight line axis. The house Zandbergen is surrounded by heavy woodland, as is also visible in nineteenth-century depictions. In front of the house lies an open layout of a lawn flanked by groups of trees, which function as wings of the sight line axis. Along the right side of the house runs a single-sided planted oak avenue, which originally led to the coachhouse. Behind this avenue a rectangular vegetable garden has been situated since the eighteenth century, where the cold and warm frames and the foundations of the greenhouses are still present. On either side of the house lie the park woods with winding lanes and relief, these are mentioned in the sales advertisement from 1791 with the wording 'a large extensive walking wood, intersected with lanes and winding paths of well-growing oak and birch coppice; and finally a large wood planted with over 30-year-old spruces'. There are some remnants of the late eighteenth-century lane system to be discerned, such as the curved linden avenue and old monumental trees in the park wood. The central axis behind the house was only laid out at the beginning of the twentieth century, originally the lane wound in generous curves towards the heathland (see drawing Numan c.1800). Of this winding lane the already mentioned linden avenue remains. The straightened lane is first indicated on the Topographic Military Map of 1927. In the eastern beech and spruce wood lies the ice house situated on a very high constructed mound, which forms an important element within this layout. This mound, as a viewing mound, forms part of the walk and is embellished with 'imitation rock blocks' of cemented brick, giving it a folly-like character. By the ice house lies a (now dry) pond in landscape style. The western wood has a relatively transparent character. Behind this wood lies a meadow with a circular walk, which despite some disturbances can nonetheless be called characteristic.
