Inleiding
In oorsprong (1897-1898) merendeels open, doch vanaf 1948 geheel overdekt ROND NAFILTERGEBOUW MET REINWATERKELDER I, onderdeel van het waterwincomplex "Waterleidingbedrijf Zuid-Kennemerland". Het oorspronkelijke ontwerp is waarschijnlijk van J. Schotel. Ten behoeve van deze overdekking werd het muurwerk boven de 19de-eeuwse onderbouw opgetrokken. De reinwaterkelder, die al bij de bouw overdekt was, bevindt zich in het centrum van het object; de zandfilters in de zes compartimenten daaromheen. De thans buiten gebruik geraakte filterfunctie gebeurde door middel van een laag zand, waar het water langzaam door heen zakte om vervolgens in de centrale reinwaterkelder te worden opgeslagen.
Omschrijving
Filter met reinwaterkelder op rond grondplan. Het object heeft een ronde kern, waarin zich de reinwaterkelder bevindt en daaromheen zes gescheiden segmenten van de omliggende cirkel op de verharde bodem waarvan zich de genoemde zandfilters bevinden. Tussen de reinwaterkelder en de omliggende cirkel loopt zich een omgaand voetpad, de zogenaamde nafiltergang. Deze nafiltergang ligt op plinthoogte en is vanaf het maaiveld op vier punten via drie traptreden toegankelijk. In het muurwerk van de filters bevinden zich dubbele stalen luiken. De naar buiten toe aflopende betondekking boven de filter is bedekt met mastiek. De dakplaten worden gedragen door rijen betonnen pijlers die rusten op de verharde bodem van de filtercompartimenten.

Het ronde filter met reinwaterkelder I is van algemeen belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het waterwincomplex "Waterleidingbedrijf Zuid-Kennemerland" en uit cultuur-, architectuurhistorisch en typologisch oogpunt als zeldzaam geworden in oorsprong uit de laat 19de eeuw daterende bedrijfsarchitectuur ten behoeve van de waterwinning.

Originally (1897-1898) mostly open, but entirely covered from 1948 ROUND SAND FILTER BUILDING WITH CLEAN WATER CELLAR I, component of the water supply complex "Waterleidingbedrijf Zuid-Kennemerland". The original design is probably by J. Schotel. In order to effect this covering the masonry above the 19th-century substructure was constructed. The clean water cellar, which was already covered at the time of construction, is located in the centre of the object; the sand filters in the six compartments surrounding it. The filter function, which is now out of use, was carried out by means of a layer of sand through which the water slowly sank and subsequently was stored in the central clean water cellar.
Description
Filter with clean water cellar on a round ground plan. The object has a round core containing the clean water cellar and around it six separate segments of the surrounding circle on the hardened surface on which the aforesaid sand filters are located. Between the clean water cellar and the surrounding circle runs a circulation footpath, the so-called sand filter gallery. This sand filter gallery is at plinth level and is accessible from ground level at four points via three step treads. In the masonry of the filters are double steel shutters. The outward-sloping concrete covering above the filter is covered with mastic. The roof plates are supported by rows of concrete pillars which rest on the hardened surface of the filter compartments.
Assessment
The round filter with clean water cellar I is of general importance as a historical-functional component of the water supply complex "Waterleidingbedrijf Zuid-Kennemerland" and from a cultural, architectural-historical and typological point of view as rare surviving industrial architecture from the late 19th century serving water supply purposes.
