Inleiding
Voormalige DIRECTEURSWONING (1897-1898), thans kantoor, onderdeel van het waterwincomplex "Waterleidingbedrijf Zuid-Kennemerland", waarschijnlijk gebouwd naar ontwerp van J. Schotel in een mengstijl waarbij in het muurwerk invloed van de neo-renaissance en in de kapbehandeling invloed van de chaletstijl herkenbaar is.
Omschrijving
Op vrij grondplan gebouwde directeurswoning bestaande uit parterre, verdieping en kapverdieping onder uit overstekende zadeldaken samengestelde kap met dekking van zwarte kruispannen. De kap is ruim overstekend en onder de overstekken en tussen de windveren van de twee puntgevels (Z en W) voorzien van schilderachtig vormgegeven consoles en siersnijwerk. Het muurwerk is opgetrokken in rode baksteen op uitgemetselde plint, waarbij voor de in het muurvlak gehouden horizontale banddecoratie (speklagen) gebruik is gemaakt van oranjerode baksteen. De voorgevel heeft een fries in diagonaal metselmozaïk waarbij naast oranje-rode baksteen, ook gebruik is gemaakt van gele baksteen. Dergelijk metselmozaïek bevindt zich ook in een aantal boogvelden. Het muurwerk heeft tussen de lekdorpels van de vensters op de parterre en ter hoogte van de verdiepingvloer een horizontale geleding door middel van geprofileerde lijsten. Een geprofileerde lijst fungeert ook als kroonlijst aan de bovenzijde van de diverse gevelvlakken. De oorspronkelijke vensters zijn alle uitgevoerd in hout, veelal T-vormig en in de bovenlichten voorzien van glas-in-lood. De vensteropeningen op de parterre zijn evenals de deuropening alle getoogd. De deuropening bevat een houten paneeldeur met twee verticale glasruiten. In de geveltoppen bevinden zich ronde vensters ter verlichting van de kapverdieping.

De voormalige directeurswoning is van algemeen belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het waterwincomplex "Waterleidingbedrijf Zuid-Kennemerland".

Description
Director's house built on a free ground plan consisting of ground floor, first floor and attic storey under a roof truss composed of overhanging gabled roofs with covering of black cross tiles. The roof projects considerably and beneath the overhangs and between the wind braces of the two gable ends (S and W) is provided with picturesque consoles and decorative carved work. The masonry is constructed in red brickwork on bedded plinth, with orange-red brickwork used for the horizontal band decoration held within the wall surface (speckled courses). The front facade has a frieze in diagonal brick mosaic in which, besides orange-red brickwork, yellow brickwork was also used. Such brick mosaic is also found in a number of arch fields. The masonry has between the drip mouldings of the windows on the ground floor and at the height of the first-floor level a horizontal articulation by means of profiled mouldings. A profiled moulding also serves as cornice on the upper side of the various facade surfaces. The original windows are all executed in wood, largely T-shaped and in the fanlights provided with leaded glass. The window openings on the ground floor as well as the door opening are all arched. The door opening contains a wooden panelled door with two vertical glass panes. In the gable ends are round windows for lighting the attic storey.
Valuation
The former director's house is of general importance as a historical-functional component of the water extraction complex "Waterleidingbedrijf Zuid-Kennemerland".
