Inleiding
Het HERENHUIS de Wigwam in Um 1800-stijl is in 1928 gebouwd naar een ontwerp van de architect Karel Muller voor H. van Heek. Het pand dat thans in gebruik is als muziekschool staat aan de Boddenkampsingel tegenover het G.J. van Heekpark.
Omschrijving
Herenhuis vanuit rechthoekige grondslag opgetrokken in bruine baksteen over twee bouwlagen onder afgeknot schilddak met zwarte Hollandse pannen gedekt. Het pand staat op een natuurstenen plint en heeft rondom een kroonlijst.
De voorgevel (N), met blokpilasters op de hoeken, telt 7 vensterassen. De centrale as risaleert enigszins en is geheel uitgevoerd in natuursteen. Op de begane grond bevindt zich hier de entree met stoep. Op de verdieping een balkon, gedragen door rijkbewerkte consoles, met smeedijzeren balkonhek, voor een dubbele achtruits glasdeur met rondboog bovenlicht met radiale roedenverdeling. De balkondeuren zijn extra omlijst door een rijkere bewerking van de natuursteen. In de overige vensterassen op de begane grond vertienruits schuifvensters en op de verdieping twaalfruits schuifvensters. Boven de even vensterassen een dakkapel met zesruits draaivensters onder een segmentboog fronton.
In de linkerzijgevel (O) een centrale risaliet over één derde van de breedte en hoekpilasters. Centraal in het risaliet de dienstingang (thans hoofdingang van de muziekschool) onder een getuide luifel. Erboven drie zesruits schuifvensters. De ingang en het middelste venster zijn gevat in een natuurstenen lijst. Op de verdieping drie achtruits vensters. Aan weerszijden van het risaliet op de begane grond een vijftienruits schuifvenster en op de verdieping een twaalfruits venster. Centraal boven het risaliet een dakkapel.
In de achtergevel ligt de middenas vanaf de verdieping terug waardoor het effect van twee hoekrisalieten ontstaat, mede door de samengestelde kapvorm. Geheel rechts een aanbouw. Links een bordes met twee dubbele tuindeuren. Op de verdieping vierruits vensters. In de steekkappen van de "risalieten" dakkapellen.
Van het interieur zijn indeling en architectonische detaillering op de begane grond oorspronkelijk, waaronder een tochtportaal, hal met marmeren vloer en kast met kluis, een trap met rijkbewerkte balustrade en glas-in-lood vensters. Vanwege de huidige functie zijn op de verdieping reversibele geluidsisolerende voorzieningen getroffen.

Townhouse erected on a rectangular plan in brown brick over two storeys under an abbreviated hipped roof covered with black Dutch tiles. The property stands on a natural stone plinth and has a cornice running around it.
The front facade (N), with block pilasters at the corners, comprises 7 window bays. The central bay projects slightly and is executed entirely in natural stone. On the ground floor is the entrance with stoop. On the first floor a balcony, supported by richly worked consoles, with wrought-iron balcony railing, in front of a double arched glazed door with round-arch fanlight with radial glazing bars. The balcony doors are further framed by richer working of the natural stone. In the other window bays on the ground floor fifteen-pane sash windows and on the first floor twelve-pane sash windows. Above the even-numbered window bays a roof dormer with six-pane casement windows under a segmental-arch pediment.
In the left side facade (E) a central projecting section over one third of the width and corner pilasters. Central in the projection the service entrance (now main entrance of the music school) under a bracketed canopy. Above it three six-pane sash windows. The entrance and the middle window are framed in a natural stone band. On the first floor three eight-pane windows. On either side of the projection on the ground floor a fifteen-pane sash window and on the first floor a twelve-pane window. Central above the projection a roof dormer.
In the rear facade the central axis steps back from the first floor upward, creating the effect of two corner projections, also through the combined roof shape. On the far right an extension. On the left a stoop with two double garden doors. On the first floor four-pane windows. In the roof edges of the "projections" roof dormers.
Of the interior the plan and architectural detailing on the ground floor are original, including a draught-proof porch, hall with marble floor and cupboard with safe, a staircase with richly worked balustrade and stained-glass windows. Due to the current use, sound-insulating provisions of a reversible nature have been made on the first floor.
