Inleiding
Gebouwd in opdracht van J. Krikke als winkel/woning in 1929 naar ontwerp van P.A. Withaar. Het geheel is in een typerende Amsterdamsche School stijl opgetrokken. Nadien is het overgenomen door Zeilmakerij Wouda die onder meer de (niet te beschermen) na-oorlogse uitbreiding aan de achterzijde realiseerde en de woonfunctie aan het pand onttrokken heeft. Het gebouw maakt vanwege de vormovereenkomsten met het naastliggende pand een bijzonder clustertje van Amsterdamse Schoolarchitectuur.
Omschrijving
Winkel in twee bouwlagen opgetrokken en gedekt door een expressief vormgegeven, steil opgaand en afgeplat schilddak belegd met tuile-du-nord pannen. De afgeschuinde westhoek is expressief opgemetseld en doorbreekt de daklijst. Aan dit gedeelte een op bewerkte klossen geplaatst (restant van) balkon en een op een natuurstenen console geplaatste vlaggemast. Aan de straatzijde een (nieuwe) winkeldeur met bovenlicht en een brede winkelpui voorzien van vier bovenlichten; de pui heeft een gemetselde onderbouw in koppenverband (staand). Links van de pui een deel van het steile dak met een op bewerkte klossen geplaatste goot. Verdieping met breed dakkapel met twee gekoppelde vensters met horizontale roeden; tussen de gekoppelde vensters een gepotdekselde beschieting. Zijgevel deels aangepast in verband met de achteraanbouw.
Waardering
Winkel van cultuurhistorisch, architectuurhistorisch en stedebouwkundig belang vanwege de functionele ontwikkeling van Meppel als havenstad, vanwege de vormgeving en materiaalgebruik alsmede vanwege de ligging nabij de sluis en het voormalige havengebied van Meppel. Van belang als essentieel onderdeel van het complex.

Introduction
Built on the orders of J. Krikke as a shop/dwelling in 1929 after a design by P.A. Withaar. The whole is constructed in a characteristic Amsterdam School style. Subsequently it was taken over by Zeilmakerij Wouda which, among other things, realized the (non-protected) post-war extension at the rear and removed the residential function from the building. Due to its formal similarities with the adjacent building, the building forms a distinctive cluster of Amsterdam School architecture.
Description
Shop constructed in two storeys and covered by an expressively designed, steeply rising and truncated hipped roof tiled with tuile-du-nord tiles. The chamfered west corner is expressively built up in brickwork and breaks through the roofline. At this point a (remnant of) balcony placed on worked blocks and a flagpole mounted on a natural stone console. On the street side a (new) shop door with fanlight and a wide shop window provided with four fanlights; the window has a built-up base of brick in stretcher bond (vertical). To the left of the window a section of the steep roof with a gutter placed on worked blocks. Upper storey with broad dormer with two coupled windows with horizontal glazing bars; between the coupled windows a filled-in facing with pegged tiles. Side gable partially adapted in connection with the rear extension.
