Inleiding
In Traditionalisme omstreeks 1925 in opdracht van de familie Stevens gebouwde VILLA. De villa is markant gesitueerd in een parkachtige tuin.
De villa vormt het begin van de bebouwing aan Broekhem. Aan deze straat bevindt zich in hoofdzaak villabebouwing uit de periode 1850-1940.
De aanbouw aan de achtergevel is uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving:
De villa heeft een in de lengterichting geplaatste rechthoekige plattegrond, telt twee bouwlagen onder een gebroken tentdak afgedekt met tuiles du Nord pannen. Dakkapellen deels met segmentboogvormige afsluiting. Rechthoekige houten vensters en deuren met bovenlichten met roedeverdeling. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen en natuursteen. Gevels rood gesaust.
Symmetrische indeling frontgevel. In middendeel frontgevel een grote stenen luifel rustend op zuilen van de Corinthische orde, met tussen de zuilen een stenen balustrade. Stenen toegangstrap. Op deze luifel een balkon met stenen balustrade. Hardstenen dorpelstenen, vensters frontgevel tevens met hardstenen lateien. Middendeel zijgevels loopt hoger door en loopt uit in topgevelachtige dakkapel. In rechterdeel rechterzijgevel in de eerste bouwlaag een erker met hierop een balkon met houten balustrade van recentere datum.
In de rechterzijgevel in een licht vooruitspringend geveldeel de iets verhoogd gelegen entree met aan de bovenzijde een rondboogvormige accentuering.
Indeling INTERIEUR vrijwel geheel gewijzigd. Overigens niet beschermenswaardig.
Aan de achtergevel een uitbouw in twee bouwlagen met een plat dak. Aan de uitbouw een aanbouw in een bouwlaag met plat dak.
Waardering:
De villa bezit architectuurhistorische waarden wegens het bijzondere belang voor de bovenregionale geschiedenis van de architectuur, de esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp en de ornamentiek. Deze waarden manifesteren zich met name in het frontgevelgedeelte.
Ensemblewaarde ontleent de villa aan de markante situering in een parkachtige tuin en daarmee van betekenis voor het aanzien van dit deel van Valkenburg aan de Geul. De villa is tenslotte van algemeen belang wegens de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur en de typologische zeldzaamheid.

Gables painted red.
