Inleiding
DUIKER, 1867, gesitueerd in het talud van de Bosscherweg, vormt de verbinding tussen Zuid-Willemsvaart en Voedingskanaal. De duiker is aan de zijde van het Voedingskanaal voorzien van een nieuw afsluitmechaniek.
Omschrijving
De duiker heeft aan de zijde van de Zuid-Willemsvaart vier doorstroomopeningen tussen vijf oorspronkelijk afsluitbare hoofden. De duiker is opgetrokken uit baksteen en heeft boven elk stroomgat een hardstenen drukboog. De sluitstenen van deze bogen zijn elk voorzien van een bekroond W-initiaal, de bouwjaaraanduiding 1867 en een guirlande. Tussen de aanzetstenen en de sluitsteen bakstenen rollagen.
Aan de zijde van het Voedingskanaal heeft de duiker een bakstenen kademuur, aan weerszijden voorzien van trappartijen.
Hardstenen kade- en hoekranden, vier verdiept geplaatste stroomopeningen, waarvan de schuifdeuren met aan haken verankerde kettingen op hun plaats worden gehouden.
Op het jaagpad en op de kademuur aan de achterzijde zijn ter hoogte van de duiker ijzeren balustrades aangebracht, die tevens bij de sluis en het bordes van de sluiswachterswoning werden gebruikt.

De duiker is van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een technische en typologische ontwikkeling. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door de esthetische kwaliteit en het materiaalgebruik. Bovendien heeft de duiker een sterke functionele relatie met de nabijgelegen sluis, ophaalbrug, jaagpad brug- en sluiswachterswoning van de Zuid-Willemsvaart.
