Inleiding
LAGER- en IJSKELDERS van de voormalige BROUWERIJ De Zwarte Ruiter, (opgericht in 1871), gesitueerd onder de voormalige bedrijfsgebouwen van de brouwerij, die zich parallel aan de Brouwersweg uitstrekken. De aan de Brouwersweg gelegen kelderwoning aan de westzijde, het souterrain aan de oostzijde van de lagerkelders, alsmede alle boven de kelders liggende bedrijfsgebouwen zijn uitgesloten van bescherming.
Omschrijving
De lager- en ijskelders van brouwerij De Zwarte Ruiter - een vroege industriële brouwerij, die in 1920 werd overgenomen door Heineken - bestaan uit een drietal ruimten, die geheel in baksteen zijn opgetrokken. Twee van de drie kelderruimten zijn gesausd, één kelder met schoon metselwerk.
De kelder met schoon metselwerk bevindt zich onder het westelijke gedeelte van het bedrijfsgebouw. (rondbogen, tongewelven, strekken).
In het verlengde daarvan strekt zich in oostelijke richting een verdiept gelegen, via traptreden bereikbare kelderruimte uit. Deze bestaat uit een halverwege naar het noorden uitzwenkende (segmentbogen, tongewelven) gang, waarop een zestal aan de zuidzijde doodlopende kelderruimten, met in hoogte verspringende tongewelven uitkomen.
Deels parallel aan beide kelders en daarmee verbonden via een smalle gang met tongewelf een ijskelder met aanzienlijk bakstenen tongewelf.
Waardering
De lager- en ijskelders van brouwerij de Zwarte Ruiter zijn van cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische alsmede een bijzondere uitdrukking van een technische c.q. typologische ontwikkeling. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door de esthetische kwaliteiten van de kelders en de constructie van de gewelven. De kelders zijn gaaf bewaard gebleven en zijn van groot belang vanwege hun architectuurhistorische, bouwtechnische, typologische en functionele zeldzaamheidswaarde.

LOWER CELLARS and ICE CELLARS of the former BREWERY De Zwarte Ruiter, (established in 1871), situated beneath the former business buildings of the brewery, which extend parallel to the Brouwersweg. The cellar dwelling located at the Brouwersweg on the west side, the basement on the east side of the lower cellars, as well as all business buildings situated above the cellars are excluded from protection.
Description
The lower and ice cellars of brewery De Zwarte Ruiter - an early industrial brewery, which was taken over by Heineken in 1920 - consist of three rooms, which are constructed entirely of brick. Two of the three cellar rooms are rendered, one cellar with exposed brickwork.
The cellar with exposed brickwork is situated beneath the western part of the business building. (round arches, barrel vaults, spans).
Extending from this in an easterly direction is a sunken cellar room, accessible via steps. This consists of a corridor with a bend towards the north halfway along (segmental arches, barrel vaults), onto which six cellar rooms running dead-end at the south side, with barrel vaults staggered in height, open out.
Partly parallel to both cellars and connected to them via a narrow corridor with barrel vault is an ice cellar with a considerable brick barrel vault.
