Inleiding
In 1925-1926 tot stand gekomen dubbele VILLA. De opdracht tot de bouw werd verleend door W. den Tex - Bondt. De architect was F.A. Warners. De constructeur van de fundering en het gewapend beton was A.F. Baak. Gebouwd in de stijl van de verstrakte Amsterdamse School, met herkenbare invloeden van het werk van de Amerikaanse architect Frank Lloyd Wright. De achtertuin grenst aan het Noorder Amstelkanaal. De oorspronkelijke gemetselde tuinmuur aan de zijde van de J.J. Viottastraat is nog aanwezig, inclusief houten poorten.

Voor dit perceel bestond een eerder plan uit 1920 van de architect H. Elte.
In 1937 vond er een verbouwing plaats in het interieur. In opdracht van W. Sickler wijzigde architect F. den Tex de kamerverdeling op de eerste verdieping, alsmede de trappartij naar de tweede verdieping.
Omschrijving
In rode baksteen opgetrokken dubbelvilla bestaande uit een kelderverdieping, een hoofdverdieping en twee verdere verdiepingen. Ontworpen op een samengesteld rechthoekig grondplan en uitgevoerd met in- en uitspringende kubische vormen. Het geheel wordt gedekt door een plat dak. De voorgevel toont links van een driezijdige erker op de hoofdverdieping een openslaande dubbele garagedeur. De inpandige garage was destijds gesitueerd naast de keuken en eetkamer. Boven de erker nog een balkon met dichtgemetselde borstwering. De vensters tonen de voorkeur voor de horizontale roedenverdeling. Deels afgeschuinde hoek met overhoeks geplaatst driedelig venster met roedenverdeling. Breed uitkragende lijst boven de tweede verdieping waaronder vierkante vensters waartussen baksteenvlakken met in trapmotief uitgewerkte decoratie. Boven de uitkragende lijst nog een blinde attiekzone.
De zijgevel heeft een kleine loggia op de tweede verdieping. Verder een balcon en deels symmetrisch, deels asymmetrisch geplaatste vensters in diverse formaten met verticale stijlen en horizontale roedeverdeling. Uitkragende lijst, schoorsteen, risalerend zuidelijk geveldeel en entrée met luifel.
De achtergevel met teruggezet geveldeel heeft een terras en balkon.
Waardering
Dubbelvilla van algemeen belang vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van vroeg 20ste-eeuwse stadsvilla-architectuur. Architect F.A. Warners werkte hier in de verstrakte versie van de Amsterdamse School, met invloeden van het werk van de Amerikaanse architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Description
Double villa constructed in red brick consisting of a basement storey, a ground floor and two further storeys. Designed on a composite rectangular plan and executed with projecting and recessed cubic forms. The whole is covered by a flat roof. The front facade shows to the left of a three-sided bay on the ground floor a hinged double garage door. The integral garage was situated at the time next to the kitchen and dining room. Above the bay still a balcony with filled-in brick parapet. The windows show a preference for horizontal glazing bars. Partly chamfered corner with a three-part window set diagonally with glazing bars. Broad overhanging cornice above the second floor beneath which square windows with decorative brickwork worked in a stepped motif between them. Above the overhanging cornice still a blind attic zone.
The side facade has a small loggia on the second floor. Further a balcony and partly symmetrically, partly asymmetrically placed windows in various sizes with vertical stiles and horizontal glazing bars. Overhanging cornice, chimney, projecting southern facade section and entrance with canopy.
The rear facade with set-back section has a terrace and balcony.
Valuation
Double villa of general importance on account of its architectural historical value as an example of early 20th-century urban villa architecture. Architect F.A. Warners worked here in the restrained version of the Amsterdam School, with influences from the work of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This is recognisable among other things in the strongly horizontal articulation of the facades and in the broad overhanging cornice and the use of cubic forms. Further of importance as part of a group of villas on the J.J. Viottastraat/Cornelis Schuytstraat/Noorder Amstelkanaal.
