Inleiding
Aannemings Maatschappij voorheen J. Rozestraten. De architect was F.A.
Architect F.A. Viottastraat/Cornelis Schuytstraat/Noorder Amstelkanaal.

Description
Introduction
Right part (W.) of a DOUBLE RESIDENTIAL VILLA built in 1925-1926. Built on commission of C. Schleicher; the commission for this part of the villa was later taken over by N.V. Aannemings Maatschappij voorheen J. Rozestraten. The architect was F.A. Warners; the structural engineer for the foundation and reinforced concrete was A.F. Baak. Built in the style of the restrained Amsterdam School, with recognizable influences from the work of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Already in 1924 there is mention of a heightening of the quay wall at the Noorder Amstelkanaal. F.A. Warners designed a superstructure on the existing parapet. Already in 1926, on the commission of C. Schleicher, F.A. Warners altered the light shaft with ventilation for two bathrooms and two toilets.
Description
Right part of a brick villa consisting of a basement storey and three, partly four, separate storeys. Designed on a composite rectangular floor plan with bay projections. The whole is covered by a flat roof. Part of the original garden boundary wall is still present. The front facade shows in place of the original garage door (compare the internal garage of the adjacent building no. 37) a three-pane window. The windows show a preference for horizontal glazing bars. Above the main floor is a corner loggia under a broad overhanging cornice. The brickwork on this 'loggia storey' is decoratively worked in a step motif. The access door to the loggia is visible from the street. Above the overhanging cornice is still a blind attic zone. The side facade shows partly symmetrical, partly asymmetrical placed windows in various formats with vertical mullions and horizontal glazing bars. Overhanging cornice, chimney, projecting southern facade section and entrance function as cubic blocks from which the whole appears to be composed. A small stair with rising parapet provides access to the covered entrance. Terrace on the garden side. The rear facade is dominated by a seven-sided bay over two storeys.
Assessment
Right part of villa of general importance for its architectural-historical value. Architect F.A. Warners worked here in the restrained version of the Amsterdam School, with influences from the work of American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. This is among other things recognizable in the strong horizontal articulation of the facades and in the broad overhanging cornice. The use of cubic forms also strongly recalls F.L. Wright. The villa is a good example of villa construction in the style of the Amsterdam School. Furthermore of importance as part of a group of villas at J.J. Viottastraat/Cornelis Schuytstraat/Noorder Amstelkanaal.
