Inleiding
INGANGSPARTIJ, behorend tot de R.K. begraafplaats, welke gebouwd is in 1871 door de architect A.C. Bleijs. De ingangspartij is gelegen ten oosten van de Westerdijk en bevindt zich aan het begin van de begraafplaats, welke van de weg wordt afgescheiden door water. Via een kleine brug bereikt men het toegangshek.
Omschrijving
De ingangspartij is samengesteld uit twee sculpturen op sokkel met daartussen een gietijzeren hek. Het gietijzeren hek, circa één meter vijfenzeventig hoog, bestaat uit twee openslaande sierlijk gesmeden hekken, waarvan de verticale stijlen zijn versierd met rolwerk, pijlpunten en Griekse kruizen. De middenstijl is bovenop voorzien van een latijns kruis.
De sculpturen bestaan uit een circa één meter vijfenzeventig hoge sokkel van gepleisterd grindbeton met daarop de betonnen beelden, welke eveneens circa één meter vijfenzeventig meten. De vierkante sokkels, rustend op een vierkante plint waarboven een cordonlijst is aangebracht, zijn aan alle vier de zijden bewerkt met een neo-gotische spitsboog met driepas. De sokkels worden bovenaan afgesloten door een vierkante, geprofileerde dekplaat. Daarop is een naar boven toe smaller wordende bekroning geplaatst met vierkant basement voor de sculpturen. Direct onder de sculpturen zijn op beide basementen aan de westzijde teksten uitgehouwen. Op de zijde van de linker plint staat:"KOM GIJ ZULT GEKROOND WORDEN", en op de zijde van de rechter plint staat:"ZIE HOE HIJ HEM LIEFHAD". Het linker beeld is licht knielend weergegeven, waarbij het bovenlichaam en gezicht gedraaid naar het oosten zijn gericht. De vrouwelijke figuur, gekleed in een lang geplooid gewaad, draagt in haar rechterhand een krans en heeft haar linkerarm licht naar boven opgeheven.
Het rechter beeld, eveneens een vrouwelijk figuur, richt zich knielend naar het linker beeld(noord) waarbij het hoofd, gesteund door de rechter hand, naar beneden gericht is. De vrouw is gekleed in een lang geplooid gewaad dat tevens over het hoofd is gedrapeerd, en draagt in de linker hand een fakkel.
Waardering
De ingangspartij is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als gaaf bewaard gebleven voorbeeld van een 19de-eeuwse ingangspartij, alsmede wegens de beeldbepalende waarde in relatie tot de begraafplaats aan de Westerkade.

On the side of the left plinth reads: "COM YE SHALL BE CROWNED", and on the side of the right plinth reads: "BEHOLD HOW HE LOVED HIM". The left figure is shown in a light kneeling position, with the upper body and face turned towards the east. The female figure, dressed in a long pleated robe, carries a wreath in her right hand and has her left arm raised slightly upward.
