Inleiding
In opdracht van het Ministerie van Justitie gebouwd als WONING voor de apotheker. Het gebouw met midden in de voorgevel de naam Plichtgevoel is in 1893 gebouwd naar ontwerp van W.C. Metzelaar; het is functioneel zowel als visueel sterk verbonden met de apotheek Bitter en Zoet en de apothekerswoning Plichtgevoel (respectievelijk Hospitaallaan 16 en 20;22).
Omschrijving
Evenwijdig aan de straat gelegen woning in sobere en functionele stijl vormgegeven. Het uit baksteen opgetrokken pand wordt gedekt door een afgewolfd zadeldak met pannen; schoorstenen; eenvoudige goot op klossen. De symmetrisch ingedeelde gevels worden geleed door getoogde 6-ruits schuiframen met natuurstenen vensterbanken, deels met persiennes; kleinere getoogde ramen in de kopse gevels; staafankers. De zuidelijke zijgevel, waarin de toegangsdeur met bovenlicht, en de hoeken aan de noordzijde zijn voorzien van blokbepleistering. Achtergevel met 3 kleine getoogde ramen ten behoeve van het trappenhuis; aanbouw met lessenaarsdak.
