Herenhuis in eclectische trant, gebouwd in het derde kwart van de 19e eeuw. Het pand vormt onderdeel van de reeks aaneengesloten nagenoeg identieke huizen Mauritskade 43 t/m 57, waarvan de buitenste panden aan beide zijden als risalieten zijn opgevat. Omschrijving.
Pand op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit een lage parterre, beletage, verdieping en lage kapverdieping in het met zink gedekte zadeldak, drie vensterassen breed waarvan de linker de ingang bevat. De grotendeels ongepleisterde lijstgevel bezit een hardstenen plint en een geblokte bepleistering tegen de parterre, terwijl de zolderverdieping eveneens gepleisterd is. De flauw getoogde vensters zijn gevat binnen geprofileerde houten omlijstingen en vertonen kuifversieringen. De stolpramen bezitten een T-vormige roedenverdeling. De ramen van de beletage en het middelste raam van de verdieping hebben hun gietijzeren versierde raamhekjes bewaard. De verdiepingen worden door geprofileerde lijsten gescheiden. Building on rectangular plan, consisting of a low ground floor, mezzanine, first floor and low attic storey in the zinc-covered gabled roof, three window bays wide of which the left one contains the entrance. The largely unrendered cornice-topped facade has a freestone plinth and blocked rendering against the ground floor, while the attic storey is likewise rendered. The slightly arched windows are set within profiled wooden surrounds and display ornamental stops. The sash windows possess a T-shaped glazing bar pattern. The windows of the mezzanine and the central window of the first floor have retained their decorated cast-iron window grilles. The storeys are separated by profiled mouldings. Between the horizontal windows of the low attic storey are located the decorated volute consoles of the wooden cornice decorated with modillions. The building has a modern roof dormer. Appraisal.
