Inleiding.
Herenhuis in eclectische trant, gebouwd in het derde kwart van de 19e eeuw. Het pand vormt onderdeel van de reeks aaneengesloten nagenoeg identieke huizen Mauritskade 43 t/m 57, waarvan de buitenste panden aan beide zijden als risalieten zijn opgevat. Omschrijving.
Pand op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit een lage parterre, beletage, verdieping en lage kapverdieping in het met zink gedekte zadeldak, drie vensterassen breed waarvan de middelste de ingang bevat. De lijstgevel is grotendeels als schoon-werk behandeld; alleen de parterre vertoont een geblokte bepleistering, terwijl de lage zolderverdieping eveneens gepleisterd is. De gevel bezit een hardstenen plint. De vensters zijn gevat binnen getoogde houten omlijstingen met in de verdiepingen kuifstukken. Zij bezitten gedecoreerde gietijzeren raamhekjes en T-vormige stolpramen. De verdiepingen worden gescheiden door geprofileerde waterlijsten. Mansion in eclectic style, built in the third quarter of the 19th century. The building forms part of the series of contiguous nearly identical houses Mauritskade 43 to 57, of which the outer buildings on both sides are designed as risalits. Description.
Building on rectangular plan, consisting of a low ground floor, mezzanine, first floor and low attic storey in the zinc-covered gabled roof, three window bays wide of which the central one contains the entrance. The cornice-topped facade is largely treated as fair-faced work; only the ground floor shows blocked rendering, while the low attic storey is likewise rendered. The facade has a freestone plinth. The windows are set within arched wooden surrounds with ornamental stops in the storeys. They possess decorated cast-iron window grilles and T-shaped sash windows. The storeys are separated by profiled drip mouldings. Between the horizontal windows of the attic storey are located the decorated, volute-shaped consoles which carry the cornice provided with modillions. Appraisal.
