Inleiding.
Herenhuis in eclectische trant, gebouwd in het derde kwart van de 19e eeuw. Het pand vormt onderdeel van de reeks aaneengesloten nagenoeg identieke huizen Mauritskade 43 t/m 57, waarvan de buitenste panden aan beide zijden als risalieten zijn opgevat. Omschrijving.
Pand op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit een lage parterre, beletage, verdieping en lage kapverdieping in het met zink gedekte zadeldak, drie vensterassen breed waarvan de middelste de ingang bevat. De parterre bezit een hardstenen plint en is verder van een geblokte bepleistering voorzien. Voor het overige is de lijstgevel in schoon-werk uitgevoerd met uitzondering van de lage kapverdieping die bepleisterd is. De vensters van de beletage en de verdieping zijn gevat in flauw getoogde, geprofileerd houten omlijstingen met kuifbekroningen in stucwerk en bezitten T-vormige stolpramen, alsmede gedecoreerde gietijzeren raamhekjes. De zolderverdieping heeft liggende, lage vensters waartussen de versierde voluutconsoles van de met modillons gedecoreerde kroonlijst zijn aangebracht. Building on rectangular plan, consisting of a low ground floor, mezzanine, first floor and low attic storey in the zinc-covered gabled roof, three window bays wide of which the central one contains the entrance. The ground floor has a freestone plinth and is further provided with blocked rendering. For the rest the cornice-topped facade is executed in fair-faced work with the exception of the low attic storey which is rendered. The windows of the mezzanine and first floor are set within slightly arched, profiled wooden surrounds with coped tops in stucco and possess T-shaped sash windows, as well as decorated cast-iron window grilles. The attic storey has horizontal, low windows between which the decorated volute consoles of the cornice decorated with modillions are arranged. The storeys are separated by profiled drip mouldings. The front door with panels and decorative grille-work dates from the period of construction. Appraisal.
