Koninklijk Paviljoen.
Het als linkervleugel van het hoofdgebouw opgetrokken Koninklijk Paviljoen (1891-93), bestaande uit een vestibule met trappenhal, de Koninklijke wachtkamers, kabinetten met toiletruimten, hofdamesvestiaire en balconkamer, is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond met afgeschuinde linkerhoek en daaraangrenzend, uitgebouwd voorportaal met luifel. De gevels aan de zijde van het Stationsplein hebben een verfijnde en rijke vormgeving in Neo-Renaissancetrant met tal van natuurstenen sierdelen. De lange noordwestgevel is voorzien van een risalerende hoofdpartij met verhoogde kap en topgevel, en rechts daarvan een travee in dezelfde trant als die van de rechterzijvleugel van het hoofdgebouw, zij het dat boven de omlijsting van het verdiepingvenster een fries is aangebracht in plaats van een fronton.
Het op natuurstenen rustica-sokkel opgetrokken risaliet heeft afwisselend natuursteenblokken op de hoeken, in het midden ter verlichting van het trappenhuis een groot rondboogvenster met geprofileerde stenen onderverdeling en rijke gebeeldhouwde natuurstenen omlijsting met renaissancistische pilasters en festoenen-fries; tussen dit venster en de sokkel bevindt zich een allegorisch reliëf voorstellend de Huldiging van het Koningschap; te weerszijden elk een smal rechthoekig venster waarboven een allegorisch reliëf; voorts links een fries met inscriptie ANNO en rechts een met 1893, en nog twee staande reliëfs met respectievelijk een W en een E temidden van arabesken.
De topgevel met dakkapel bezit een rijke ornamentiek van paarsgewijze geplaatste zuiltjes, hoofdgestellen, obelisken, siervazen, bekronende aedicula en bovenin het boogveld boven het zoldervenster een allegorisch reliëf met voorstelling van de Vrede.
De schuin geplaatste noordgevel heeft boven het uitgebouwd portaal geblokte pilasters op de hoeken, in het midden een recht afgesloten venster geflankeerd door Ionische zuilen en bekroond door een reliëf met Koninklijk wapen. De topgevel met dakkapel daarboven is voorzien van vleugelstukken met rolwerk, obelisken, zuiltjes en een aedicula.
Het lage, uitgebouwde ingangsportaal met balconbalustrade heeft een afgeschuinde zijde haaks op de noordgevel van het paviljoen, met groot rondboog-venster voorzien van houten onderverdeling, geprofileerde natuurstenen omlijsting, gebeeldhouwd fries en rustica-hoekpilasters; in de noordwestgevel de ingangspartij met van renaissancistisch houtsnijwerk voorziene deuren, geprofileerde natuurstenen omlijsting en gebeeldhouwde zwikdecoraties.
Aangrenzend de in 1908, in verband met de bouw van het station voor de Hofpleinlijn, aangebrachte luifel, met sierlijk gesmede randen en op het trottoir steunend op twee gietijzeren zuilen met leeuwekop-motief.
De vijf traveeën tellende gevel aan de perronzijde heeft een breed, van rijk renaissancistisch beeldhouwwerk en Composiete zuilen voorzien middenrisaliet met dubbele deur in het midden met rondboogvormig bovenlicht, bekroond door een fronton met het Rijkswapen temidden van lofwerk en in geprofileerde omlijstingen gevatte rondboogvensters met houten onderverdeling; terzijden dubbele Dorische pilasters.
Inwendig bevat de entreehal Toscaanse zuilen; het aansluitende monumentale trappenhuis heeft een kleurige marmeren bekleding, bronzen sierhekken en sierlantaarns, wandpilasters met kandelabermotieven en putti, beschilderde koofplafonds en zijwanden, glas-in-loodvensters en een marmeren staatsietrap met tussenbordes. Het grote rondboogvenster en de twee kleine flankerende vensters tonen de wapens van de provincies en steden langs de 'oude HIJSM-lijn', waarbij die van de drie grote steden elk door een schildknaap worden vastgehouden, alsmede het Rijkswapen; het glas-in-lood is naar ontwerp van J.L. Schouten uitgevoerd door het Delftse atelier Prinsenhof. De zijwanden hebben allegorische schilderingen met personificaties van Justitia, en Handel en Nijverheid in combinatie.
Bovenaan de staatsietrap een eveneens in zeer rijke neo-Renaissancestijl gedecoreerde hal met gepolychromeerde uitmonstering, reliëfs, deels verguld stucwerk, consoles met gekroonde vrouwenkoppen, en een mozaiekvloer; tot de wandschilderingen behoren ondermeer wapentrofeeen en grotesken, tot de reliëfs allegorische voorstellingen van de Overvloed en de Vrede in boogvelden, en het boven de deuren naar de wachtkamers geplaatste Rijkswapen met allegorische dragers; voorts in de twee zijwanden bij het bovenbordes elk een nis met marmeren piedestal met bronzen reliëfs. De evenwijdig aan het hoge perron gelegen koninklijke wachtruimten bestaan uit drie door middel van bogen en halfzuilen gescheiden vertrekken die worden verlicht door rondboogvensters; zij hebben wandbespanningen met bloemmotieven boven een hoge lambrizering, houten parketvloeren met tapijten, en aan de plafonds rijk geornamenteerde metalen lampen; het bijbehorend meubilair in neo-Lodewijk XVI-stijl is door de Haagse firma Mutters vervaardigd. De middenruimte die groter is dan die van de flankerende, in spiegelbeeld uitgevoerde, zijruimten, wordt overdekt door een rijk versierd koofplafond met cassetten en schilderingen van putti, grotesken en provinciewapens en rijkswapen. In de zijruimten elk ondermeer een marmeren schouw waarboven allegorische voorstellingen en verguld stucwerk op hout; het beeldhouwwerk is van Van den Bossche en crevels, de schilderingen van M.A. Hendricks. De aansluitende toiletkamers zijn ondermeer voorzien van betimmeringen, cassettenplafonds en wandbeschilderingen met een zich herhalend motief van een gekroonde W, en bij een een glas-in-loodbovenlicht; voorts in marmer en hout uitgevoerde wastafels met spiegels en sierlampen te weerszijden, met pilasters en balustrade versierde schermen met paneeldeur en een tegellambrizering, waarvan een nog origineel is.
Vanaf het bovenbordes zijn tevens de hofdamesvestiaire en de balconkamer bereikbaar die beide ondermeer parketvloeren, imitatiewandbespanningen boven een lambrizering en een cassettenplafond hebben, alsmede marmeren schoorsteenpartijen met Delfts blauwe tegels, rijk gedecoreerde ijzeren gaskachels en een allegorische schildering in het houten bovenstuk en bronzen deurknoppen; de hofdamesvestiaire heeft voorts nog een aansluitende, in vereenvoudigde vorm uitgevoerde toiletruimte, en een schilderstuk met putti in het plafond, terwijl de balconkamer nog een kapstok en smeedijzeren lamp uit de bouwtijd heeft.

Description
Royal Pavilion.
The Royal Pavilion (1891-93), constructed as the left wing of the main building, comprising a vestibule with staircase hall, the Royal waiting rooms, cabinets with toilet facilities, ladies-in-waiting cloakroom and balcony room, is erected on a rectangular floor plan with bevelled left corner and adjoining, projecting entrance portico with canopy. The facades on the Stationsplein side have refined and rich Neo-Renaissance styling with numerous natural stone ornamental features. The long north-west facade features a projecting central section with raised roof and gable, and to the right a bay in the same style as that of the right wing of the main building, although above the framing of the storey window a frieze has been applied instead of a pediment.
The risalit erected on a natural stone rusticated plinth has alternating natural stone blocks at the corners, in the middle for the illumination of the staircase a large round-arched window with profiled stone glazing bars and rich carved natural stone framing with Renaissance pilasters and festoon frieze; between this window and the plinth is an allegorical relief representing the Homage to the Kingship; on either side each a narrow rectangular window above which an allegorical relief; furthermore to the left a frieze with the inscription ANNO and to the right one with 1893, and two further standing reliefs with respectively a W and an E surrounded by arabesques.
The gable with roof dormer possesses rich ornamentation of paired columns, capitals, obelisks, ornamental vases, crowning aedicula and in the arched field above the attic window an allegorical relief representing Peace.
The obliquely placed north facade has above the projecting portico rusticated pilasters at the corners, in the middle a straight-topped window flanked by Ionic columns and crowned by a relief with Royal coat of arms. The gable with roof dormer above is provided with wing sections with scrollwork, obelisks, small columns and an aedicula.
The low, projecting entrance portico with balcony balustrade has a bevelled side at right angles to the north facade of the pavilion, with large round-arched window provided with wooden glazing bars, profiled natural stone framing, carved frieze and rusticated corner pilasters; in the north-west facade the entrance section with Renaissance carved wooden doors, profiled natural stone framing and carved spandrel decorations.
Adjoining the canopy installed in 1908, in connection with the construction of the station for the Hofpleinlijn, with delicate forged edges and resting on the pavement on two cast iron columns with lion-head motif.
The five-bay facade on the platform side has a broad central risalit provided with rich Renaissance carving and Composite columns with double door in the middle with semi-circular fanlight, crowned by a pediment with the State coat of arms surrounded by acanthus and round-arched windows set in profiled framings with wooden glazing bars; to the sides double Doric pilasters.
Internally the entrance hall contains Tuscan columns; the adjoining monumental staircase hall has colourful marble cladding, bronze ornamental railings and decorative lanterns, wall pilasters with candelabrum motifs and putti, painted coffered ceilings and side walls, stained-glass windows and a marble ceremonial staircase with landing. The large round-arched window and the two small flanking windows display the coats of arms of the provinces and cities along the 'old HIJSM line', those of the three major cities each held by a shield bearer, as well as the State coat of arms; the stained glass was executed according to the design of J.L. Schouten by the Delft studio Prinsenhof. The side walls feature allegorical paintings with personifications of Justice and Commerce and Industry in combination.
At the top of the ceremonial staircase a hall likewise decorated in very rich Neo-Renaissance style with polychrome fittings, reliefs, partly gilt stucco, consoles with crowned female heads, and a mosaic floor; the wall paintings include amongst others arms trophies and grotesques, the reliefs include allegorical representations of Abundance and Peace in arched fields, and the State coat of arms placed above the doors to the waiting rooms with allegorical supporters; furthermore in the two side walls at the upper landing each a niche with marble pedestal with bronze reliefs. The royal waiting rooms located parallel to the high platform consist of three rooms separated by means of arches and half columns, illuminated by round-arched windows; they have wall coverings with flower motifs above a high wainscot, wooden parquet floors with carpets, and at the ceilings richly ornamented metal lamps; the associated furniture in Neo-Louis XVI style was manufactured by the The Hague firm Mutters. The central space, which is larger than those of the flanking, mirror-image executed, side spaces, is covered by a richly decorated coffered ceiling with paintings of putti, grotesques and provincial coats of arms and state coat of arms. In the side rooms each amongst others a marble mantelpiece above which allegorical representations and gilt stucco on wood; the sculpture is by Van den Bossche and Crevels, the paintings by M.A. Hendricks. The adjoining toilet rooms are amongst others provided with wooden panelling, coffered ceilings and wall paintings with a repeating motif of a crowned W, and in one a stained-glass fanlight; furthermore washbasins executed in marble and wood with mirrors and decorative lamps on either side, screens decorated with pilasters and balustrade with panel door and a tile wainscot, of which one is still original.
From the upper landing the ladies-in-waiting cloakroom and the balcony room are also accessible, both of which have amongst others parquet floors, imitation wall coverings above wainscot and a coffered ceiling, as well as marble mantelpiece arrangements with Delftware tiles, richly decorated cast iron gas stoves and an allegorical painting in the wooden upper section and bronze door handles; the ladies-in-waiting cloakroom furthermore has a adjoining toilet room executed in simplified form, and a painted section with putti in the ceiling, while the balcony room still has a coat rack and wrought iron lamp from the construction period.
