Omschrijving
De Hampoort. Overblijfsel van de door Menno van Coehoorn ontworpen vestingwerken, gebouwd in 1688, van baksteen met onderdelen van zandsteen, bestaande uit een met graatgewelven overdekte, in plattegrond gebogen doorgang, aan de stadszijde uitmondend in een eveneens met graatgewelven overkluisde hal waarin twee vrijstaande pijlers en waarnaast aan elke zijde een overwelfde zijruimte.
Pilasterordonnanties met hoofdgestel en fronton versieren de beide poortgevels, waarvan die aan de landzijde het rijkst is en in het fronton wapens bevat.

Description
The Hampoort. Remains of the fortification works designed by Menno van Coehoorn, built in 1688, of brick with components of sandstone, consisting of a barrel-vaulted, in plan curved passageway, opening on the town side into an equally barrel-vaulted hall with two free-standing pillars and beside which on each side a vaulted side space.
Pilaster orders with capitals and pediments decorate both gateway facades, of which that on the land side is the richest and contains coats of arms in the pediment.
