The National Monuments Service's description

A peatland survey carried out in 2006 by Archaeological Development Services recorded a togher measuring in ‘width 0.75-1.15m, depth 0.03-0.63m, ength 60m’ (Whitaker 2006, 80) the togher was not dated. Described by Whitaker (2006, 80) as ‘this togher was visible at three sightings at the northern end of Littleton Bog. It was orientated east-west and was visible in the drain faces. The togher was more substantial at the western end, at TI-LTNO23a,but was composed of fewer elements in the remaining sightings. TI-LTNO23a, 223616, 159288, Width 0.77m, Depth 0.11m. This sighting was located at the western end of the togher. It was exposed in the drain face, 4.63m below the field surface. It was composed of a roundwood and five brushwoods. Two of the brushwoods were orientated east-west but the remaining elements were orientated northeast-southwest. The wood was moderately preserved but was quite dried out where exposed in the drain face’.
