The National Monuments Service's description
A peatland survey carried out in 2006 by Archaeological Development Services recorded a possible togher measuring in ‘width 0.75-1.97m, depth 0.11-0.17m, length 25m’ (Whitaker 2006, 76). The possible togher was not dated. Described by Whitaker (2006, 76) as ‘this possible togher was visible at two sightings that were recorded on the field surface and in the drain face. It was orientated northwest-southeast, broadly parallel to TI-LTNo16a- b, and was composed of longitudinally laid roundwood and brushwood elements. TI-LTNO17a, 223590,159205, Width 2.4m, Depth 0.3m This sighting was located at the northwestern end of this possible togher, approximately 17m south of TI- LTNO16a. It was exposed on the field surface and was composed of regularly laid longitudinal roundwoods with some brushwoods. The elements were orientated northwest-southeast and were in a poor state of preservation due to exposure on the field surface. They were densely laid and measured 0.01 to 0.15m in diameter. The peat was composed of poorly humified Sphagnum-rich peat with frequent Eriophorum inclusions’.
