Le château d'Uza se trouve sur une motte artificielle où se dressait au Moyen Age une forteresse bâtie pour la puissante famille de Montferrand, forteresse à laquelle les Lur-Saluces qui l'avaient héritée substituèrent une grande demeure aux 17e et 19e siècles, à un étage et pavillon central, de plan quadrangulaire et cantonnée de tours. L'édifice est réalisé par l'architecte Jean Prunetti, en 1929. Il conserve le plan du vieux château mais ajoute un étage carré et remplace les anciennes toitures à croupes ou coniques par une unique terrasse. Du côté de la façade principale, il édifie entre les tours une galerie au rez-de-chaussée supportant un large balcon à l'étage noble. Le pavillon central est rattaché aux tours par des loggias que soutiennent des paires de colonnes cannelées. Tous les décors intérieurs sont à peu près conservés en l'état. Les tendances décoratives des années 1920-1930 sont mélangées au mobilier plus ancien. Le parc semble avoir été redessiné en 1930 mais sur la base d'éléments d'un ensemble paysager plus ancien.

History
The château of Uza stands on an artificial motte where there stood in the Middle Ages a fortress built for the powerful Montferrand family, a fortress which the Lur-Saluces, who had inherited it, replaced with a large dwelling in the 17th and 19th centuries, with one storey and a central pavilion, of quadrangular plan and flanked with towers. The building is realised by architect Jean Prunetti in 1929. It preserves the plan of the old château but adds a square storey and replaces the old hipped or conical roofs with a single terrace. On the side of the main façade, it erected between the towers a gallery at ground level supporting a wide balcony on the noble storey. The central pavilion is connected to the towers by loggias supported by pairs of fluted columns. All interior decorations are preserved in approximately their original state. The decorative tendencies of the 1920s-1930s are mixed with older furniture. The park appears to have been redesigned in 1930 but on the basis of elements of an older landscape ensemble.
