Au 18e siècle, les forges furent développées au coeur du domaine rural de la famille de Lur-Saluces qui disposait de minerai de fer, de charbon de bois et de la force motrice de l'eau. Après avoir périclité jusqu'à la première moitié du 19e siècle, les forges connurent une expansion sous le Second Empire et la IIIe République. Suite aux coûts de production trop élevés, les forges, le haut-fourneau et l'atelier cessèrent leur activité en 1981. Le haut-fourneau a été rasé, et l'atelier abandonné. Ce dernier est actuellement l'ultime témoignage des forges d'Uza. Il conserve un ensemble de machines-outils et de l'outillage de petite forge.

History
In the 18th century, the forges were developed at the heart of the rural estate of the family of Lur-Saluces who had access to iron ore, charcoal and the driving force of water. After declining until the first half of the 19th century, the forges underwent expansion under the Second Empire and the Third Republic. Due to excessively high production costs, the forges, the blast furnace and the workshop ceased activity in 1981. The blast furnace was razed, and the workshop abandoned. The latter is currently the final testimony to the forges of Uza. It preserves a collection of machine tools and small forge tooling.
