Historique

History
Seat of a seigneury in the Middle Ages, the domain belonged to different families. In 1850, Joseph de Carayon-la-Tour modernizes the agricultural and wine-growing installations and has the castle enlarged and transformed by the architect Théodore Duphot. Before the fire of 2008, the castle presented a rectangular main dwelling dominated in the centre by a pavilion. The lateral wings are surmounted by a balustrade concealing the flat roof. An octagonal crenellated tower on a circular base rises before the east facade, while a porch supported by four columns with Ionic capitals precedes the main north facade. The domain also comprises several outbuildings and a Neo-Gothic chapel. Parallel to the works on the castle, the landscape architect Bühler realizes a project. A plan of 1870 and a later plan signed by the Bordeaux landscape architect Duprat allow one to recover its landscape composition, traversed by a watercourse.
