Le plan comprend un imposant vestibule, plusieurs salons, un billard, une salle de réunion et, au premier étage, en dehors des appartements privés du préfet, est prévu un appartement d'honneur destiné au séjour des princes et princesses de la famille royale, de passage à Angoulême.

History
Situated against the ramparts and the end of a district built under the First Empire and the Restoration, the prefecture is the work of Paul Abadie the elder.
