L'emplacement de ce quartier correspond à l'ancienne réserve de chasse du château d'Angoulême, lotie aux 18e et 19e siècles. La façade sur rue est suivie d'une porte cochère donnant sur une cour intérieure encadrée de murs surmontés de balustres en pierre. La façade est à deux étages. Le rez-de-chaussée est séparé du premier étage par un bandeau surmonté d'un entablement percé de quatre séries de quatre balustres correspondant à l'allège de chaque baie. Le rez-de-chaussée est percé d'une porte avec encadrement en tableau, surmonté d'un entablement décoré de denticules, soutenu de part et d'autre de la porte par des consoles s'enroulant en volutes, ornées d'une palmette. Deux grandes baies rectangulaires sont percées de chaque côté de cette porte. L'entablement de la porte d'entrée supporte, à l'étage, un balcon bordé d'un garde-corps en fer forgé qui correspond à la porte-fenêtre. Cette dernière possède un encadrement en pierre de taille surmonté d'un fronton semi-cylindrique interrompu en son sommet. Ce fronton est supporté par deux consoles à enroulement intérieur et cannelées. De part et d'autre de cette porte sont percées deux fenêtres à l'allège formée de balustres. Celles-ci sont surmontées d'un panneau rectangulaire plein, creusé dans la surface du mur et correspondant à la hauteur du fronton. La corniche saillante est à larges modillons. La porte cochère est encadrée de murs bas surmontés de balustres. Le mur d'angle est soutenu, côté rue de la Préfecture, par une énorme console en pierre. Le portail possède un encadrement appareillé en refends, à l'ouverture cintrée avec clef saillante à l'intrados, surmonté d'un important entablement rectangulaire formant corniche.

History
The location of this district corresponds to the former hunting reserve of the château of Angoulême, subdivided in the 18th and 19th centuries. The latter has a stone ashlar frame surmounted by a semi-cylindrical pediment interrupted at its apex. This pediment is supported by two consoles with interior scrolling and fluted. On either side of this door are pierced two windows with the spandrel formed of balustres. These are surmounted by a solid rectangular panel, sunk into the surface of the wall and corresponding to the height of the pediment. The projecting cornice has large modillions. The carriage gate is framed by low walls surmounted by balustres. The angle wall is supported, on the side of the Prefect's Street, by an enormous stone console.
