Des volutes de feuillages encadrent ce cartouche. La mouluration extérieure saillante se retourne en équerre, verticalement pour reposer sur des consoles sous lesquelles sont sculptés deux écus, présentés par des anges. A droite de la cour, en entrant, un arc en anse de panier donne accès à la cage d'escalier. Après un départ étroitement enroulé en cylindre, la rampe en fer forgé se compose d'une série de grands panneaux séparés par des panneaux étroits en forme de balustres. Les uns et les autres sont de dimensions variables selon l'emplacement. Le motif central est une fleur aux pétales droits terminés en demi-volutes. Le remplage est complété par quelques S bouclés, tandis qu'aux volées suivantes le même fleuron est encadré par deux grands C enfermant des rameaux feuillus. Au palier d'étage, la composition est encore modifiée. Le panneau central est axé sur un cartouche vide avec les mêmes C doubles complétant le remplage. Aux deux autres panneaux, le fleuron est modifié, devenant une sorte de vase élancé, soutenu par des volutes bouclées se terminant par une tige perlée et épanouie en feuillages engaînants.

In 1793, the building housed the revolutionary tribunal. Since its acquisition by the town, it has housed the natural history museum. The entrance vestibule gives access to a courtyard. Above the basket-handle arch which separates the courtyard from the vestibule, an old window is decorated with cavetto mouldings forming small columns, with small foliage capitals. This opening is sheltered beneath a projecting external moulding, forming at the centre a small semicircular pediment with stepped edges. In the tympanum, an oval escutcheon, crested with a three-quarter helmet, is sculpted with two uprooted shrubs, with intertwined branches bearing rounded fruits. Scrolls of foliage frame this cartouche. The projecting external moulding turns back at right angles, vertically to rest on consoles beneath which two escutcheons are sculpted, presented by angels. To the right of the courtyard, on entering, a basket-handle arch gives access to the stairwell. After a start tightly wound in a cylinder, the wrought-iron handrail is composed of a series of large panels separated by narrow panels in the form of balusters. Both types vary in size according to location. The central motif is a flower with straight petals terminating in half-scrolls. The infill is completed by some curled S-curves, while at the following flights the same fleuron is framed by two large C-curves enclosing leafy branches. At the storey landing, the composition is again modified. The central panel is centred on an empty cartouche with the same double C-curves completing the infill. At the two other panels, the fleuron is modified, becoming a kind of slender vase, supported by curved scrolls terminating in a beaded stem and spreading into sheathing foliage.
