History

At the end of the 19th century, the Sainte Chapelle is enlarged to become a parish church of which it constitutes the choir. The architect Aymon Mallay is probably the author of this enlargement, carried out in a late Gothic style close to the initial construction of the 16th century. The former chapel vaulted with groin vaults is composed of a nave of four bays closed by a polygonal choir and traversed at mid-height by a stone gallery above which are arranged statues of apostles in terracotta perhaps due to the Italian artist Rustici. The choir possesses stained-glass windows of the 16th century. In the extension of this old part, the nave of 1840, also vaulted with groin vaults, extends over five bays opening onto two aisles. These comprise a chapel of the Sacred Heart furnished with sculptured woodwork (no doubt reused elements of the 18th century) and a complete set of stained-glass windows due to different Clermont glaziers.
