Construit en 1777 comme loge des Francs-Maçons (loge Les Amis de la Vertu) de Riom et devenu résidence privée après la Révolution, l'ancien hôtel Thuret se présente comme une demeure bourgeoise de la fin du 18e siècle. Il comporte un portail sur rue flanqué de deux pavillons et, entre cour et jardin, l'hôtel lui-même. La façade sur cour comprend un rez-de-chaussée et un étage mansardé, avec un portail dorique surmonté d'un panneau monumental en pierre qui devait, à l'origine, présenter des motifs allégoriques ou des inscriptions. Les pavillons d'extrémité comportent un étage. Côté jardin, l'architecture est celle d'une modeste maison bourgeoise avec rez-de-chaussée et un étage de mezzanine qui se relève dans les pavillons d'extrémité.

History
Built in 1777 as a lodge of Freemasons (lodge The Friends of Virtue) of Riom and become a private residence after the Revolution, the former Thuret hotel presents itself as a bourgeois dwelling of the late 18th century. It comprises a gateway on the street flanked by two pavilions and, between courtyard and garden, the hotel itself. The façade on the courtyard comprises a ground floor and a mansard storey, with a Doric gateway surmounted by a monumental stone panel which was originally to present allegorical motifs or inscriptions. The end pavilions comprise one storey. On the garden side, the architecture is that of a modest bourgeois house with ground floor and a mezzanine storey which rises up in the end pavilions.
