History
The 16th-century staircase is part of a less ancient house which ends, at the corner of rue Saint-Amable and boulevard du Château-d'eau, the ensemble of Louis XVI style houses which form the place de la Fédération. This staircase comprises a cage with open-work which contains four successive landings. At the first three landings, the upper storey rests, for three of its sides, on two columns of Doric style. The bases of these columns appear to be connected to flamboyant Gothic.
