History
Built in the 16th century and much altered in the 18th, the château is composed in an L-shape with a round tower at each end and a small square tower crowning the staircase placed at the intersection of the two wings. The architecture clearly marks the southern influences which were greatly favoured in Auvergne in the 18th century. The interior shows, on the ground floor, fine vaulted rooms with an important fireplace in the north wing. Most of the rooms on the upper storey are decorated with French ceilings, fireplaces and rustic Louis XV wainscoting. This château was built for the son of François de la Guesle, bailli and governor of the county of Auvergne, master of the household of Catherine de Medici.
