The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Starabyssä on poikkeuksellisen hyvin säilynyt Pohjanmaan rannikkoseudun raittikylän rakenne ja pihapiirit, joissa on runsaasti säilyneitä talousrakennuksia.

Starabyn tiiviin ja pienen kylän asutus on sijoittunut molemmin puolin vanhan maantien varteen Pedrsören kirkon ja Kirkkorannan eteläpuolelle. Perinteinen talonpoikainen rakennuskanta muodostaa tien varrelle tiiviin, pienimittakaavaisen kyläraitin.

Osassa vanhoista aitoista on ovi tielle päin, osa pihoille päin. Osa talousrakennuksista on uudempia.

Staran päärakennus on rakennettu 1790- ja 1880-luvulla, Sjömanin 1800-luvun alussa ja Storstaran 1800-luvun asuinrakennusta on laajennettu 1962.

Pohjanmaan rannikon varhaisin vakituinen asutus syntyi jokisuiden tuntumaan.

The agency's own Swedish text. The English below is made from the Finnish.

Staraby has an exceptionally well-preserved street village structure and yard areas typical of the Ostrobothnian coastal region, with numerous surviving outbuildings.

The settlement of the compact, small village of Staraby is situated on both sides of the old road, south of Pedrsö church and Kirkkoranta. The traditional farmhouse building stock forms a compact, small-scale village street along the road.

The four residential buildings of the village farms Stara, Storstara and Sjöman stand in a row along the road. The village's abundant and rich old building stock includes several outbuildings located on the opposite side of the road. Some of the old fences have a gate facing the road, others face the yards. Some of the outbuildings are newer.

The main building of Stara was built in the 1790s and 1880s, that of Sjöman at the beginning of the 19th century, and the 19th-century residential building of Storstara was extended in 1962.

The earliest permanent settlement on the Ostrobothnia coast arose in the vicinity of river mouths. In the 1560s there was also a dense concentration of large villages at the mouth of the Purmonjoki.
