Step-by-step instructions
1
Open Family Tree Maker
Launch Family Tree Maker on your computer and open the tree you want to export.
2
Open the File menu
Click "File" in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
3
Select Export
Click "Export…" from the dropdown menu.
4
Choose what to export
In the Export dialog, select "Entire File" to include everyone in your tree. You can also choose specific individuals if you prefer.
5
Set the format to GEDCOM
Make sure the output format is set to "GEDCOM (*.ged)".
6
Save the file
Click "OK", then choose a location on your computer (Desktop is easiest to find later). Click "Save."
