Worthington
Laid out in 1871 by the National Colony Company of Toledo, Ohio, was named for the wife of Dr. A. P. Miller of the company. Worthington became a center for the sale of railroad lands. Despite grasshopper plagues and other set-backs, the Company within five years settled hundreds of families in Nobles County.
Verbatim 1940 text, presented as a historical record, not current interpretation. Minnesota now calls the 1862 conflict the U.S.-Dakota War and has since replaced the wording on some of these signs.
